Sweet car.

Can tell it's been repainted, over spray inside the wheel well.

Was it wrecked before?

FWD or AWD?

A Nissan evolving into a DSM is like a Corvette evolving into a Chevette.

But hey, neat car.

nice talon but get a tag for it. the tag applied for cardboard tag is illegal and you will get a ticket for it. plus you don't apply for a tag you go get one.

i know in SC as long as you have a current bill of sale, you have up to 45 days to get tags. but you must have insurance to drive it.

oh yeah fwd or awd

true but you are better off not having anything on the back of the car. just as long as you have a bill of sale. but here in ga you need to get a tag in 30 days or less

Lol in Florida you have 0 days. Found that one out the hard way.

It's a really stupid law. You can't drive an unregistered car here no matter long you have owned it. Makes registering a pain.

it is a FWD i only had to get it because i couldn't afford a 2g AWD. the new Nissans are having so many problems now and i didn't want to be categorized as a Yankee and driving a piece of ****. so i got a DSM. KpowerEP3 haha thats exactly what i was saying. lol ghost. evolving from a 175HP Sentra QR25 to a 210HP 7 bolt 4G63 is a big difference. and if i had my choice i would take an Evo over a skyline ANY DAY.

The qr25de is not a slouch - I ran a 14.79 STOCK in an 03. The 04+ guys were even faster. Not bad for a sedan. Your vehicle selection is an awesome back-up/spare car, but if you are gonna beat on you might find out the grass isn't always greener on the other side... sometimes you have to water your own grass.

Wait for the tranny to go out on your DSM(unless you are not going to drive it hard)and then you are going to want to go back to Nissan.

Hey, I know how it is. I went from my EP3 to my Talon. Even when it was running stock boost my first thought was 'Jesus Christ, what was I thinking before?'. How many miles does it have on it?

Also, some good websites for DSM's [if you don't already know] are

http://www.dsmtalk.com
http://www.dsmtuners.com
http://gadsm.org

and the holy grail of DSM info/free/cheap mods [you can put an AWD into the 12's for a couple hundred bucks, FWD's, too but it requires better driving due to traction]

http://www.vfaq.com

I'll also have a ported 14b [1g OEM turbo, it's a bit bigger than the 2g T25] for sale some time this week after I get another 16g on my car. Let me know if you're interested. Also, hit me up if you have any questions. I've ripped mine apart multiple times since I've had it, so I'm no expert, but I CAN help.

Congratulations....Turbo Talon..welcome to the DSM club new member. You will see what you have been missing out on. All these people saying that your transmission will blow out, etc are just plain ignorant. A DSM must be run hard to be reliable....if you run it slow and easy, you will see small stuff like coolant hoses popping, etc..If you need any basic help on where to go...just go to those websites above...dsmtuners.com my favorite, and Vfaq really helps on how to do it.

I would say start with a 3in exhaust first. Lets just hope your 2G doesn't get the dreaded crank walk. Good luck..and congrats again! +1

well.. i gotta fix the power steering first. im gonna be ordering a new rack soon. then ill save up enough money for the exhaust later after i get a few small things. oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge. both will go under the radio. right now im looking for a turboback exhaust. on all my cars im only gonna get the best **** and imma do everything right. so. its gonna slowly be progressing.

i thought crankwalk was only caused by overboosting?

KPowerEP3
03-31-2008, 02:30 PM
Nah, crankwalk is caused by a flaw in the 7bolt motors. Something to do with the oiling of the crankshaft pilot bearing. Basically it doesn't get lubricated well, wears out and allows the crankshaft to move laterally.

I will say this, and people will disagree, but MOST of the cars that had it happen, it happened in the first...eh...80k miles or so. If your car has over that, than your chances of NOT getting it are better, but look out for the symptoms of it, which usually involve clutch issues, like the clutch pedal going to the floor in a LH turn or LOTS of grinds and bad engagement and that kind of thing. Basically, there's pretty much a 50/50 shot of you getting it or not.

car looks pretty good, and crankwalks a myth, but in all seriousness add towing to your insurance, i owned my 1g awd for almost 2 years, raced it once, i spent more time waiting for parts from the mitsu dealer than anything, and my talon was a solid car w/ a 6bolt cyclone, ported evo3 big 16g, and supporting mods, course when i drove mine i drove the **** out of it

be gentle to the tranny and it will last, you cant slap through the gears on a daily basis like you can in most anything else

Parts to come.
3" Turboback exhaust.
1" lowering springs tein or eibach on kyb or tokico shocks maybe a diff brand whatevers harder.
235/45/17 tires
new BOV probably greddy or tial
water temp and oil pressure gauges placed in extra spot under radio

if you get a clutch get a twin disk or whatever....it relieves some of the pressure and is said to help the crankwalk issue/myth...g/l with the talon, i've always wanted a red one with the black top and some bronze rims

Crankwalk occurs of some crank thrust bearing going bad. I think it involves the cam angle sensor too. But the only way the 7bolt could eliminate it i think was by installing a second squirter.

KPowerEP3
04-01-2008, 02:01 AM
make sure to get an aftermarket boost gauge, too. The OEM little line guage-thing blows. I can be pushing 16PSI, and it's just chillin in the middle, instead of being way at the top. Congrats, and like everyone else who's actually owned one has told you, you're going to love it man.

I have a 1G turbo FWD Talon. I think I might have a spare 1G or 2G idle speed sensor. But as far as the polyurethane motor mounts go, I just installed mine about a month ago. It was a pain in the ass, but the end results are very fruitful.

For FWD, its either the front(near the radiator) or back mount(at the firewall) that usually cracks, breaks, etc. But its usually the front one...mine was the back one, which is the hardest mount to get to. But it was totally worth it...ebay is the cheapest place to get em. Oh and it vibrates a lot more but its feels almost like a massage at idle, letting off the clutch, but it doesn't shake or yank the engine..which is what its all about...Sorry about the rant, but hope it helps.
