I've been smoking pretty steadily since I was like 16 and have quit a couple of times but always ended up back smoking within a couple of months. Anyways I'm hoping that this time is for good. Was just wondering for those of you that have quit do you have any tips? I'm going cold turkey.

Do you drink coke or coffee a lot?

well, damn you just screwed yourself. Caffeine & Nicotine together makes the withdrawal symptoms worse and makes it harder for you to quit. They have this product called smoke away, which supposedly reduces cravings. Another substitute is just eat some type of candy.

just stop hanging out with smokers if you dont smell it or see it you wont get the urge to smoke. thats how i was i mean i still smoke like 1 or 2 a week singles not packs, but thats better than a pack every two days...

i smoked from the time i was 14 untill october of 06 just before i turned 24. i just quit cold turkey...i tossed em and never went back. go get some dentyne ice gum and every time you need a cigarette chew a peice of gum. it helped me greatly. the only draw back is that im addicted to that gum but its only 99 cents a pack and a pack lasts me about 2 days. its hard for the first couple days..after a week its all good. the worst part is that evan now after a year and a half of no smoking i still think about it. but when i get around smokers i can taste it and its actually pretty gross tasting. plus i like alot of other foods and i dont smell like ass anymore. just quit and stick with it. after a week you wil be good to go!

^^that works

as well as nicotine gum (wal mart brand is 29.99 for 100, they have a Juicy Fruit flavor that tastes EXACTLY like juicy fruit)

i quit on new years, haven't really smoked since then... (i've had a djarum here and there, since then... but haven't bought a single pack since then)... I've smoked/ puffed on like 5 cigs total since then (slip ups)

but I got my cousin to quit smoking who was smoking for 10 years (with the help of the nicotene gum)... Its SO easy you wouldn't believe with the gum.

But yeah, get a hookah, too... it helps... yes i know a hookah is bad for you too... but you aren't going to impulsively smoke a hookah all day... it takes time to set up, clean up, etc.... so the average person isn't really going to smoke it that often... .but it helps keep you away from cigs... I smoke hookah ~2-3 times a month

Initiate some other destructive, habit forming behavior to take the place of your smoking like heroine abuse, chronic masturbation or leveling a toon in World of Warcraft.

My buddy quit chewing and starting smoking at the same time. I was pretty amused.

i quit cold turkey and did what japan4racing did, gum is the best it last longer (one piece) to one cig and the other thing is to remind yourself your just smelling like **** and killing yourself ,once you quit youll taste food better and smell sense is better and when you smell cigs on you from the bar or somthing youll realize how nasty that **** really smells and is and if that isnt enough motivation then nothing is...mind over matter...

I started smoking about 5 years ago and each year i say i'm going to quit and time flies by. But one thing that I noticed worked for me was a huge party pack of dum dum lollipops. Whenever I had the urge to smoke I just got a lollipop and kept at it. But alot of it is all in your head; and hanging around your friends that smoke. Try the candy/gum or play a video game whenever you feel an urge.
