Holy god look at the size/strength/thickness of the main cap and bottom half of the block on this motor. And people wonder why the GM 1200hp 10,000 rpm pro-stock ecotecs run the exact same block as the street cars. BEEFY. This is GM's LNF ecotec used in the Sky Redline/Solstice GXP/Cobalt SS Turbocharged.

All forged crank, rods from the factory too... gotta love it. This one in particular had a freak timing chain occurance and lost a couple pistons/bearings, so they tore it down. Notice the unique bowl shape of the direct injection piston.

the honda blocks aren't much different as far as block/crank strength.

i am surprised to see how well GM engineered it though! looks like they planned on the cars taking some abuse.

the pistons remind me of diesel... the whole bowl thing i guess.

Same kind of fuel injection as a diesel
