how do i check it on a 95 civic?

with your car on level ground, open the upper tranny fill bolt ( a 17mm ) and if a little oozes out then your fine. if it doesnt, add a little more till it does

Correct if you need to add some its easier to install fluid by the speed sensor if your not jacked up the car already , just remove the 17mm upper fill plug,an one 10mm bolt on the speed sensor, twist the sensor left to right to losen it, then pull straight out, reverse to install it back, long skinny funel an pour the fluid in until it runs out of the upper fill plug hole. then install the fill plug an your done....hope we helped
