I'd love to keep this and mod the hell outta it, but for reasons that shall not be disclosed :ninja: , I need to sell it. It should make a very nice play-thing for a Nissan fan out there. And ya, its already no slow-poke.:D

Also, I failed to mention that its location is in Sumter, SC. Its about 20 mins East of Columbia.

Update:
I just bought this set of Tein coilovers. They are being shipped from Japan so it may take a week or two, but they'll go on as soon as I get em and pics will be updated. Even though these were pretty pricy, I just couldnt pass up such quality parts. The Skyline's sale price will stay the same.

Not tyring to take cheap shots at the owner or anything but there are plenty of ways around to get these cars legalized. If it has a title and is registered and insured here then it's considered legal. Owner may have cut some corners or whatever but If I can go down to the Tag office and register the **** then get pulled over and get away with no problems than the ****s legal. If the car is in all actuality not legal then shame on the owner but im gonna go with what the owner says and agree.

It's nice and priced fair but not legal.

last time that i checked a car can be imported but must pass EPA and customs as a "private street car". It doesn't neccesarily need a substitute vin just to be released from customs as a "private street car". If it made it this far than it had to pass emissions at customs. DOT can give it a new vin....and not use the jdm vin..... the substitute vin plates like the one in fivex684's post i believe, and i might be wrong on this, issued by state. There are many loop holes that can be used when importing a car.Make sure you just don't come on here telling him that it isn't legal and not give him a reason, that just makes you look jealous, give an explanation and dont threadcrap. GL on the sale

Once again nothing against the seller. I don't care if you sale the car, just don't call it legal when it isn't.
Anyone can sneak a car in and get titled and insured, that has nothing to do with it being legal or not.

It is State legal. You can not Fed legalize an R32 or R34 except for super rare exceptions. I just noticed I didnt specifically say it was STATE LEGALISED. Not Fed. A new owner would not encounter issues with it. People use scare-speak with grey markets.

So unless you have an interest in my car or want to give a kindness bump. I politely ask that you refrain from posting in my sale thread.

03-29-2008, 05:58 PM
Alright I changed the original post. It is STATE LEGAL with a Mississippi state assigned VIN.
It has been registered and titled in three different states with no issue, and ive been pulled over with a bad headlight bulb once with no issue. The cop actually complimented the car:D .

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f68/fivex84/2634402_38_full.jpg

Legally imported vehicles do not get a substitute VIN, they get assigned 17 digit U.S. VIN numbers. the "substitute VIN" you have pictured is the original Japanese VIN number from the manufacturer. Japanese vehicles do not come with 17 digit VIN numbers, they generally have between 11 and 13 digit VIN numbers, most Nissans have 11 digits, all Skylines have 11 digit VIN numbers. The VIN plate you have pictured there is not what would be riveted onto a legally imported vehicle. That pictured VIN number is fixed in two places on Skylines, first being the firewall and the second being the manufacturer plate on the firewall. Some Japanese vehicles also come fixed with VIN stickers in the door seals along the door jams, these stickers have the same information as the firewall plates however they also list manufacture dates which the firewall plates do not list.

Jeeez! Just let the guy sell his car in peace! Let's not make it into a discussion about the fine details of vehicle's legality! It's titled, insurable, and registered! That's what matters to local authorities and the state (except the Republic of California). If you want to discuss the technicalities on importing vehicles, go to another thread.

Dude! That's a sweet car, and I would love to see it come back to GA!

Having seen every square inch of this car including all the paperwork I beg to differ, it's people like you that make me not want to sell my car on here because of the **** you assholes bring in. Oh you're not trying to hinder the sale, bull **** YOU JUST DID!!! Ok let's say for a second that it really isn't legal even though all the paperwork says "SKYLINE" He gets pulled over (which he has) the officer looks at registration sees the VINs match, plates match, proof of insurance for a Skyline, and he is the registered owner of the vehicle. What's he gonna do call the DOT and EPA and say "Uh hey we gotta Skyline on the road here let's impound it" If he get's in an accident insurance will pay out because it is insured as a skyline using the state assigned VIN. Little green men from Mars or the Men in Black are not gona come take this car away in the middle of the night

if here you're here to ridicule the legalization of this car GET THE **** OUT!!!!!!:2up:

For anyone having doubts about making it "Legal to drive" in an state.. Here' the answer..

"Final Decision

Accordingly, on the basis of the foregoing, NHTSA hereby decides that
1990-1999 Nissan GTS and GTR Passenger cars are eligible for
importation into the United States because they have safety features that
comply with, or are capable of being altered to comply with, all applicable
Federal motor vehicle safety standards."

^^Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is not accurate anymore. As of March 6, 2006 only the 1996-1998 R33 (RHD) Nissan GTR/GTS vehicles are eligible for importation. NHTSA rescinded what you quoted because they "realized" that the crash test vehicle was an R33 chassis (which debuted in 1993). 1996 comes into play because it was the first year that dual passive restraints (airbags) came standard on the Skyline. Check it out!

http://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/component/main?main=DocumentDetail&o=09000064802c3ebc

The cool thing is...NHTSA has just released the infamous "Addendum A," which holds the ever-so-desired structural modifications that were performed on the crash test "craft" prior to the testing. That means any RI can legally import a 96-98 skyline and will know exactly what to do to bring it into compliance. AKA any RI can "MOTOREX" such skylines! Check it out!

http://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/component/main?main=DocketDetail&d=NHTSA-1999-5507

Don't worry, however, because the GTS-T in this thread is plenty legal enough to drive on the road, which is up to the states to determine (per NHTSA). Not being "MOTOREX" means that it was not imported properly, as is with most Skylines in the US! Who cares!!! Sorry to hijack with so much crap!!! Good luck with the sale!

Don't forget to be "Legal" they have to have a OBDII system. Which the cars in Japan never had. SOOOOOO, there will never be another "Legal" car until someone spends some $$$$$$$$$ to retrofit the cars to OBDII

All parts needed are available within the U.S. and it does not cost that much at all. As soon as I can get my RI application approved through NHTSA I will be running ECR33, HCR33 and BCNR33's through North Carolina.

All parts needed are available within the U.S. and it does not cost that much at all. As soon as I can get my RI application approved through NHTSA I will be running ECR33, HCR33 and BCNR33's through North Carolina.

really, b/c they revoked the previous crash test so you crash 3 more cars, and you have to create an OBDII system to convert them from OBDI. Jim Wolf has a system built for the 33's but it was going to cost Hiro at Motorex $300,0000 for the first one. So good luck with that.

Please do research before posting rediculous posts such as this. This car in this thread is a fine sale as are furture sales of these cars. Importing vehicles and bringing them into compliance is not as difficult or as expensive as it is made out to be by people who don't know all the facts and details.

I appologize to the orignal poster if this has cluttered your thread, just trying to keep good facts made known to help the sale. To many naysayers these days

with all the skylines getting seized by the govt, you might as well start parting these things out.... they just became worthless.

The percentage seized is no where close to the percentage not seized, it's maybe a fraction of how many actually get passed through customs and arrive at their destinations.
