So i got a 88 accord LXi and its pretty cool... but thats besides the point...

It had about 26xxmiles on a rebuild on everything. Now a few months ago when I took it out for a test run after putting in a oil pressure gauge(lol i kno rice) and I suddenly had no 4+5th gear. There was this clicking sound when idling and when it was in gear + on the gas(just to keep speed and flooring it). I checked the tranny fluid and it was black+metallic. Then when it was off I went threw the gears and when i put it into 5th it got STUCK!! I get pissed get it outta 5th and then I parked the car for 4ish months. Id start it up every-now and then just cuz.... Well a few days ago i just sat in it and ran threw the gears messing a round and started it today. Well id didnt hear the clicking at first. Then I drove around the neighborhood and 4th was back and im like so i put it into 5th and its just putting along!! Im freaking out wtf is going on? Should I take the tranny out and see if something is floating around or loose? Or should I just rebuild the tranny completely?? Im soo confused....

first you should go ahead and replace the oil and get all of the metallic shavings out cuz that eventually is gonna make it worst. fill up to level again and test it again.

Man when you drain all of the fluid, get you an extendable magnet form the parts store (the little ones) and keep swiping it in the drain hole, until you get none or very few shavings on the magnet, rmember to wipe it on a towel each time. Even though the auto tranny in my car was rebuilt like 5-6 years ago, I found some tiny shavings in my tranny, but thats slightly different. But after that go refill it, and drive it around and see.

Oh yeah remember I have tons of 3gee parts from my 89 lxi parts car, so if ya need anythign let me know. :)

That is a synchronizer "blocking ring",I have seen that happen many times, just from abuse, wear, improper installation etc etc... if you need someone to rebuild the transmission for you let me know, 678 567 9384 Mainstream,

g/l w/ the rebuild and emmino is a good guy and seems to know his shizzle, i got my tranny from him and had no problems... i would solicit his help if i were you.
