Me and my friend Dana, who some of you have met, were talking today and we came up with an idea. We were thinking of how we could help our soldiers overseas keep in contact with their families. And this is what we came up with.

After seeing my Uncle ,who is a Colonel in the Army, at my grandfathers funneral last week and talking to him about what the soldiers wanted, he told me " A way to call home."

Well Dana and I thought about some ideas, and we came up with CCFOS (Calling Cards for Our Soldiers). I was thinking about possibly getting a group of people together to meet some where and cruise up to Cloudland Canyon (UPPER LEFT CORNER) for a picnic/BBQ and everyone would donate a $20 Calling Card and a dish or something for the BBQ.

After all the cards are collected I will send them all to my Uncle in Iraq to pass out to his soldiers in his command. I have not set a date or time yet, I am wanting to see who will be interested in helping out.

Please post here to show how much you can support our friends and families overseas fighting for our freedom. This would meam mountains to my Uncle and his troops.

Also we can take pics of the people and their cars to send with the cards, so the troops can actually see who sent them instead of just a letter from a stranger.

Please help us out, and lets show how we are more than just gear heads, but people that actually care about what they are doing.

Thank You.

Thats the kind of support we are looking for.

After I see what kind of responces we get, I will post a date and time.
Also if you fell like supporting the cause, and do not want to make the trip you can mail the phone card to me and I will get them to my Uncle when I get them all together. PM me for my mailing address if you can not make it to the meet.

Also if you feel like donating a calling card, please take a pic of you standing next to your car holding the card. This way it will give the person recieving the card a more at home feeling, instead of a letter from a stranger.

Please help support the troops, if not for them, who knows where we would be.

Thank You !!!

That is Awesome....I would like to see a lot of people get involved in this. I am already liking the interest so far. I have a friend from another site, that wants to get a site dedicated to this as well.

Like I said in my original post, as I see how much interest is generated, I will post a date and time. So far it is looking pretty good.

Thanks !!!

you can also donate old cell phones at any at&t store, iirc, and they pre load them with minutes or recycle them and use the $ to send calling cards or something along those lines, my wifes office did a cell phone take up since they are affiliated with robins air force base in warner robins....i think they ended up donating well over a thousand phones

depending on how far away the meeting place is i could be down for a bbq

Old cells is a good idea, but we do not want to hassle with the shipping. Phone cards are smaller and will not cost as much to ship over.

Thanks for your input though.

This is a great idea. I was in the AF for 11 years and the Guard for 2 years and it was great to see support like this....Keep up the awesome work!!. I think that all branches should be included like the marine said earlier.....I would like to donate also.
