And bought THE hottest car ever. ;)

Some of you know and some don't. I drove to TX thursday night and traded my car. Just got back. 1975 911S Targa. Highlighter yellow, nice suspension ,almost 100% restored. Seeing all the old pics made me want to get something vintage again and not fast.

http://www.galantvr4.org/img.php?id=66631

On the other hand.... what about vintage AND fast?

http://www.galantvr4.org/img.php?id=66628

Engine built by RX7 dot com:
Street port
Two piece 3mm apex seals
large injectors 650cc/1000cc
stock turbo pushing 13 pounds boost
3" exhaust, Supertrapp muffler
two stock Mazda oil coolers
Haltech E6k
Garrett Liquid to air intercooler with go fast bits bypass valve
10,500 Redline
Approx 325-350 horse at the crank
Approx 9,000 miles on engine

Down and back video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=srSNUxnOh-U)

Wide Open (http://youtube.com/watch?v=5H1rgjlR1Ao&feature=related)

Idle (http://youtube.com/watch?v=pUEcTQF4vtY&feature=related)

Drove it back 1100 miles without a hiccup. I did however surprise a few cars on the way back. The thing is a freaking rear engine go kart. So light and responsive it was just amazing. I traded the Galant for it to a guy named Glynn, a minister with a huge passion for cars. Glynn was very upfront and honest about everything we did and the transaction went smooth as ice.

As I said before I loved my Galant but since there are so many cars out there I want but cant have them all at the same time, I gotta do it one by one. I have wanted a 911 since I first saw matchbox cars and silhouettes of them to illustrate the iconic "sports car" look. 13b swapped 911? I had never heard of that one. I mean heck all the 13bs are sitting around since Ls1's took their place. I say put them all in 911s. Light, rev forever, nice balance and of course boost. Ahh it feels amazing to shift a Porsche from 2nd to 3rd at 13psi, 9k rpm, targa off and wail past an 03 Cobra. Wankel would have been proud.

Thanks! It uses the stock 75 gearbox which is pretty strong and believe it or not, the stock 911 clutch.

Can't wait to get it on the autox course. Do the whole thing in 1st.

The swap has been cleaned up since those pics. In fact the idle vid shows the current setup. More pics after I get the bugs off.

The car will probably get a fiberglass 930 (not slant) iroc front and perhaps a small whale tail. Don't need it since the IC is liquid to air. I love the car without flares too. Its as sleeper as an old 911 can be. You should hear the thing running without the discs in the supertrapp. :police:

Seriously though, this thing is faster than the Galant. 3rd gear on the highway starting alike 5 grand and not stopping until 10k is crazy. With the stock Porsche gears I can do 85 at the top of 2nd too.

Youre not a fan of a turbo rotary swap into a vintage Porsche?

Some people say the "soul" of the car is gone because it doesn't have a Porsche motor. I say lets line up on the highway. Let's compare lap times. Keep your "soul". If "soul" is mediocre outdated performance with 6 times the cost, then f it. I enjoy fast, crazy, different, and most of all fun. I could not afford the upkeep on a stock 911 turbo swap plus it would be slower. This car from 5k to 11k is balls out scary. Boost + Old School 911 = Cool no matter how you do it.

Loosen up the panties, man. I never knocked your ride. I gave you props. Later, QD.

I mean I understand but have you ever driven a stock 2.7 911? Slow as ****. Plus the headstuds crack and a decent stock rebuild for "moderate" performance at best will cost 5k plus to do it right.

A German dude invented the rotary and I think had there been more research done into them back then a lot more cars would come with them especially sports cars. Torque doesnt matter when you weigh this little. Thats the combo thats so different from the GVR4. I had torque but I was heavy. The 911 has great power, a NICE powerband and weighs nothing.

I was never a fan of cross branding either. But given the fact its either slow 911 or quick FD. Hmmm how about a quick old 911? When you go for a ride and you are thrown in your seat, you aren't thinking "Well too bad this isnt an air cooled 2.7" you're thinking "HOLY **** I CANT STOP SMILING!"

Nice car man! Looks to be in great shape and was a good find. You don't see a lot of 70's 911's in that great of a shape. While I'm also on the other side with the swap, no one is knocking it dude. Yes it may be faster, but there's a feel and sound to an old 2.7 or any factory Porsche for what it's worth. Some people would never trade that for anything else and you should just respect that. They don't have to explain themselves and neither should you! Enjoy the car!

If you don't mind sharing, what power is it making?

I think there are enough folks in here to gather a little Porsche meet one of these days. I'm up for it.

My car has no flares so I can't really pull them off. This car wants 17 inch 993 turbo twists in black and the small duckbill wing. Think Martini racing.

BTW, If you know anybody with the wheels for cheap give me a pm anybody.

In fact I was thinking the phone dial 944 wheels would be cool since its a rotarty dial... ;)

I need to practice more around here before I take this one up to this mtns. Boost and turning sharp results in immediately taking the hell off. I dont want to spin it around into a ditch yet. I'm getting more comfortable with the engine back there. I tell you the bov is REALLY loud going off into your ear like 2 feet behind you. I dont want the body of the car to get dinging up from the road debris. I think what will work is two sets of front 7.5 twists all around with a spacer in the rear.

Then what is the distance from the face of the wheel out to the fender and how much space is between the tire and shock/springs?

I'm just trying to determine how big you can go and with what offset. Those BBS RS wheels have a really high offset with the lugs almost out to the face of the wheel (not deepdish) and may work without sticking out...

Are those cookie cutters the stock wheels that came with the car? If so, I'm pretty positive the offset on those are similar to the early 944's (pre 87), which can carry a pretty wide and low offset wheel.

I'll try to look it up later.

I picked mine up for ~600.00 off of craigslist. They were brand new with new rubber. The guy had just went with Fikse wheels.

You will see some great prices, but act quick, cause a few I've seen resell on ebay for more $$$$.

just rims, if you want 18's http://atlanta.craigslist.org/pts/574119352.html

We def. need to do a mountain run when we get a chance.

Mountain run for sure. Those roads I basically know by heart in my Galant but I will have to relearn braking and throttle up there in this thing.

Those 996 replicas are nice but 10 inch wide rears?!?! I dont think they'd fit worth a poop.

I don't even know the offset of those. 15x7 but I dont know offset yet. Apprently 944 guys run my wheels alot too.

Ah. If that's the case, those wheels are run on the pre 87 cars, which can carry a low offset wheel. Are they 15x7 all the way around or are the rears 15x8? If the rears are the 15x8 that means you can actually stuff a pretty wide wheel in there. You'd be surprised.

You'd be surprised.I'm curious about how much room is on the inside of the tire...i'm sure with the correct offset a 1" or 2" wider wheel could be used and it still not stick out past the fender.

I'll have to measure it this weekend. I dont believe they are staggered though. I'll probably keep them on there for a while and just use up the tires on them whil I get used to the car. I'll probably roll up to Strictly German and see if they have something random laying around too.

Found some RUF Speedlines for 2 grand. Too big though
