I work at Edgewood and the power went out on Moreland but not my complex. So I took an alternate route home and saw Decatur Police/Firemen driving down Dekalb Avenue towards ATL.

I don't think it was a tornado. Sounds and looks more like a micro burst. Storm happened at what 9:30 it's now almost 1:30 and still no clean up crew and the mayor's stupid ass has yet to show her face. Stupid man.

Consider this. As most of us konw that 1/2" of snow shuts down pretty much everything everywhere in Georgia other than up north. You have a "tornado" come through a major part of Atlanta Dome, CNN Center, Omni, Phillips Arena, and GSU. All of which were heavily occupied with the exception of Phillips. The city simply put to me did not have a plan for something like this. I'm looking at the news right now and 4+ hours later and there is no clean up going on anywhere. You think that any other major city wouldn't have started a clean up by now? The major just basically put the blame for injuries and lack of warning on the media :lmfao: . My major complaint is lack of response preparedness.

My dad was staying at the Omni (Sp?) hotel since Wed for a big convention. This building was proably hit the hardest. He said he was at the bar and people came storming to the lobby (it was packed) they were running and hiding behind the bar, jumping in the kitchen as windows blew out and furniture went down the street. He said his heart was racing but it was quote "cool."

clean up??? The weather is still bad and it is kinda late to dispatch crews just to clean up a mess. Understand we're not talking about life and death circumstances, so I don't understand why anybody should mobilize just to clean up in the middle of the night. Also the area is dangerous due to still falling glass caused by the wind and their is a possibility that unstable objects could injury someone, why risk injury to clean up in the dark.

If four floors of the Cotton Mill Lofts collapsed how is there not a death count? How could they possibly cleared it out in there because there was no warning. Eh, I don't know. I know someone had to have died.

The weather is still bad? Turn on the tv from what I am seeing on the news on and on 3 different weather service radar pics the skys are clears there. Now as far as structural damadge. There are still people inside the CNN building and the other surrounding buildings. What I see is a bunch of cops and fire fighters standing around twiddling their thumbs wasting time and tax dollars. Why not call in the clean up crews in the middle of the night. IT'S A MAJOR CITY.

I don't know but it doesnt really look like the inside has imploded they said 4 stories had imploded but it only looks like the building is 5 stories and they asked someone that lived there if everybody got out and they said yes

after leaving work in buckhead around 10pm i took 400 and didn't see any sign's of a torndao during that time. its pretty interesting how in one location it can be clear of any danger but in others is strikes who no remorse. georgia weather is insane, watching the news now and there are some areas with some serious damage, ouch.

I am not talking about building collapsing, but saying loose object on the roof may fall. I rather be safe than sorry and just have the crews start in the early morning. There is still a possibility (especially since it is downtown) of a gust of wind blowing already broken glass around.

I can already see you becoming a whiny old white person at the age of 28. O my god the cop should have reported to my 911 call about the kids playing with the fire hydrant because they are wasting my tax dollars

Ok man fine your worried about loose debris trapped in the building I hear you. So why not send these idiots who are just standing around twiddling their thumbs inside to check them out? if they are so worried about loose debris, why let people walk down the street where all this supposedly loose debris is? It makes no sense man.

but in all honestly do you think atlanta, or even georgia is capable of organizing a clean up crew for all that this fast.....i think not, and on top of that do you think the clean up crews they do have have any experience with something that big? they cant just drive their little vacuum mobiles down the sides of the street.

The cops are suppose to keep ppl off the streets where the buildings were damaged at. Also when have u not seen cops twiddle their thumbs?

No on both counts and I understand that you cant just drive a lil vaccum mobile down the road. But that is my point. The state of Georgia and the city of Atlanta have no response prepared in case of something like this.It makes me wonder what else they aren't prepared for. I'm willing to bet that in the morning the streets still look the way they do in that area.

1.) That's my point the aren't doing their job.
2.) Your right in most cases even when it comes down to traffic flow during major events when they shut off all the traffic lights and direct traffic themselves they do more harm than good. Have you ever gone down to that area to go to a major event say 2 hours before when all the lights are still on? Easy as **** to get to where you need to go and traffic is heavy. Then 30 minutes before traffic isn't as bad but cops are directing traffic and the ****s terrible
3.) I'm white again so what?

So to boil down your argument. We shouldn't call in clean up crews because its the middle of the night(even though its a major city there are major events going on all during the day in that area including the St. patricks day parade). The cops should be blocking off the roads yet they have deemed it safe to be on and there are people walking around inside and out around those buildings yet the APD has blocked most on ramps into the city because it's so hazordous. So what exactly should they be doing right now. Waste time money when they could be cleaning up the area to at least make it safe for cars to drive around there.

St. Patrick Day's parade was cancelled, so was the Home Show...... they didn't clean up quick because of other rounds of storms approaching. Just because the radar shows 'clear' doesn't mean that there wasn't any weather approaching....

Cops don't clean up areas. They are there to control the crowds, direct traffic and do cop stuff..... and they did block off several roads leading to the CNN center........i did see a bulldozer crew in the early morning though.... i've been watching the sh*t the whole night... lol

i was working on courtland/ralph mcgill and was standing outside when it went from rain to nothing at all...just like that, being raised in an area that had tornadoes, i looked around went back inside, then noticed signs acting crazy, then people calling and running into the lobby panicky.
