my car pulls left. something is knocking near the front left wheel and everytime it makes the noise my car pulls left...It does it when I'm not in gear, but it doesn't if I'm in gear and on the gas, or if I'm in gear and not on the gas...but if I'm barely touching the gas it does it. Anybody have any suggestions?

check your lug nuts. axle.

took off the wheel, nothing is lose or rubbing or anything, i'm thinking maybe the axle is binding up in the hub assembly? or maybe the bearing isn't turning the way it should anymore?

I would say wheel bearing

never have i seen a wheel bearing cause a pull. just noisey.
unless of course, it's soo loose it put the alignment way out, but it wouldn't be intermittent then.

Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it's impossible. The wheel bearing could be grinding enough to cause the wheel to not glide properly. He pointed out that it happened when he was gently on the gas, but not when he was hard on it, but that when he was off the gas that it was also fine. He pointed out that it only pulls when it makes noise, which effectively rules out an actual alignment issue.

You're hearing a knocking noise...try and get a friend or family member to see if they see anything when the car is rolling and you're hearing the knocking noise (Assuming you can do that safely at low speeds.)

Left front brake caliper is seized. Trust me. I can diagnose anything over the interwebs.
