everything gets boring after a while, if you could find a career that changes frequently that would keep you from being bored, but i have no idea what kind of careers would be like that. the old saying goes: "find something you love/ enjoy doing, and find a way to make a living doing that" idk. i work at an at&t store, not really a career per say but w/ new technology and new phones, it keeps me from being too bored.

Paul,

You ought to know well enough that there are lots of things that you can do to change it up inside of the IT industry without having to leave it. That way you can still use your education and experience to the maximum benefit. I personally got burned out on general IT stuff until I starting training people. I get to travel quite a bit, which can be a good or bad thing. I get to constantly meet new people, do different stuff, etc... I have found that my little niche doesn't get nearly as boring because it really changes from day to day. Be careful with too much "job hopping" though. I know it isn't always your fault, but a lot of companies tend to look down upon it.

ya i gotcha. i really haven't job hopped though... i didn't have tons of time to find something when i took this job. i got 1 year w/ the last and 6 years w/ the previous before that. so i'm good on time. i need to land something like you got; i feel i'm wasting away in these office jobs :surrender

I completely understand. I am going to be hiring at least one or two trainers some time this year, so you know I will keep you in mind if you are still looking/interested when the time comes.
