SPAL Fan relay kit??? do i need it???

im going to cut out the rain guard on my engine lid and install a spal fan to push the air out of the engine bay.... do I really need a relay kit?? or can i just run it off a switch w/ inline fuse??

I would stick with the relay just in case something electrical goes wrong....
