um.. around that year would be 93-97 because honda only made them those 5 years in the U.S. and the 93 is different from the 94-97.. and the 94-95 has fog lights unlike the 96-97

so when you say ' around that year'.. you are being very vague.. and it makes no sense..

please, if you are wanting someone to help you find a del sol that is not specifically a '94 model, please be more direct.

research does a lot for someone asking for something from the public.

not trying to be an @ss, just helping out your request!

BUMP

You want me to break it down for you? (and by the way... I am the del Sol QUEEN on here... don't let any of these bums make you think differently... )

1993 del Sol:
S and Si models only.
S = D15b7, 102 horsepower, 88tq. SOHC non-VTEC. Available manual and stick. disc front, drum back.
Si = D16z6, 135hp, 110tq. SOHC VTEC. Manual and stick. 4 wheel disc brakes, beefier sway bars.

1993 trademarks - no passenger side airbag.

1994
S = same as 93
Si = Same as 93
DOHC VTEC = B16a3, 162hp, 140tq DOHC VTEC. Manual only. Biggest sway bars, factory front strut bar, upgraded disc brakes (same size as integra GSR)

1994 trademark - First year with driver AND passenger airbags.

1995
S - same
si - same
DOHC VTEC - same

1995 trademarks - Trunk release inside car (BIG selling point on these things... seriously), removed "civic" from rear badging, making the car badged as a del Sol and not a civic del Sol.

** Many people consider 1995 to be the most coveted del Sol. It was the last year the car had aux lights and the first year for the trunk release inside the car, so for the aux light fans (most people think they look better with aux lights), this is the cream of the crop. 1995 was also the only year that the DOHC VTEC cars were offered in Isle Green Pearl, and it is damn near impossible to find them.

1996 del Sol:
S model - upgraded to D16y7 engine. 116hp, 95tq. SOHC non VTEC
Si model - upgraded to D16y8 engine. 140hp, 110tq (approx). SOHC VTEC.
DOHC VTEC - moved to B16a2 engine. Same stats as a3, just more emission controls.

1996 trademarks - first year of no aux lights in the front. The d16y8 is a better SOHC VTEC platform due to a freer flowing exhaust manifold and head.

1997 del Sol
S model - same
si model - same
DOHC VTEC model - same.

1997 was the last year of the del Sol in the US. 1997 saw the Vogue Silver Metallic S model. If you see a factory silver del Sol, it's a 97 S model. If you see a non-factory silver del Sol, it's my old show car lol.

in 1998, as a last ditch effort to save the del Sol in Japanland and Euroland, they offered the Motegi and Daytona editions. The Motegi edition was a Cypress Green Pearl Si model with a tan/orange leather interior. The Daytona was a Vogue Silver Metallic DOHC VTEC model with a red leather interior. Both had special wheels.

The good news about modding del Sols is that they are VERY easy to mod, since they are a civic (EG) chassis at the heart of it all.

Some things that ARE del Sol specific:
emergency brake lines
shift linkage
A/C compressor bracket
Weather seals/obvious rear end stuff.

EG civic and DC integra front ends will bolt up with little to no modifying of the framework. EG civic and DC integra seats will bolt in pretty easily, the steering wheels are interchangeable, and the dashboards can be made to work with a little ingenuity.

And in case you are wondering, I have owned NINE del Sols since 2002.

So now that you know the year by year breakdowns, which one ya want lol.

2 more things...

1. You are NOT going to find a del Sol cheap. They have a HUGE collector following, and it is extremely rare to find one in decent shape under $2750-$3000

2. PM me if you wanna know about the Japanese specs lol
