Topspeed is looking into buying a new shop project car. We would like to get everyones opionion first on what you think will be then next hot market.
We are looking for a mass produced turbo car, that someone could easily mod. The price must be under 40k.
Thanks,

Id say the Solstice GXP or the Saturn Sky Redline, Both boosted and potential and sexy, To me the sky as far as looks blows the Solstice away (Kinda like a G35 blows in style wise a 350z)

I have a feeling a luxury car will be. Car prices are dropping and with a weak economy, that means prices will continue to drop.
Add the fact luxury brands sell more than ever and tons are leased and the used car luxury market will be flooded.
Buyers can then get a Lexus or BMW etc at a very low price with a solid aftermarket.

'08 9-3 turboThe A5 is definitely dope, but with an msrp of right around $39k it will be highly out of reach for a majority of the "tuner" market.
I think maybe the new Cobalt SS turbo with 260 hp might be good.
Next gen mazdaspeed 3.
RX-7/9 if they ever come out.
Next gen 240 if that ever comes out.
Mazdaspeed Miata coupe if that ever happens.

Before now, the 350z/ g35 and the rx8... (cars which i don't really care too much for) weren't as deep into the "tuner" crowd as they might be soon as the prices depreciate. I can see those booming at the launch of the GTR, and the birth of a "poor man's GTR"... even though the vq35 sucks, i'm sure you guys can possibly do something about it?
as far as the rx8, the car sucks major balls, i retract my statement lol there wont be a market for them bc they suck lawl... no one will buy one.

Ive never seen any LS1/LS2/LS3/LS6 make that kind power on just $4000 heads an cams.
LS3s can do it fairly easy. LS2s and LS6s can do it with full bolt-ons (electric water pump, right cam, intake manifold, ported TB, the right headers/exhaust system). LS7s only need a tune, intake and good exhaust system. 500bhp is a breeze, much harder to pull 500rwhp with just heads/cam. Definitely need an intake manifold, port work, UD pulley.
I make well over 500rwhp (and torque) on motor. It's loads of fun. :D I can't wait for my nitrous tune. :D

Only problem I can see with the GXP/Redline's is the lack of a good tuning solution. Yes HPtuner is able to tune them. But the amount of tables that are unlocked are very few. Couple that with the fact if the cars ecu is very senstive and almost anything out of the ordinary throws it into limp mode. Causing the user to reset his ecu all the time.
Right now I am seriously leaning torward the new BMW 135i. Its turbo'd, can be tuned fairly easily comes with 6piston brembos' and is under 40k.
The new 135 is going to end up taking alot of the STI and Evo market I feel. Now that both the STI and EVO are priced about the same if not more than the BMW

agreed, a 135i would be the smartest choice but a 535i wagon would be so ****ing sick.
id like to see a cheaper car with a build, rather than a buying a new car and adding expensive parts the regular joe wouldnt even think about buying..
