View Full Version : Why I love reposession.

I work at a car dealership and there is nothing I love more than someone getting reposessed.
Heres what happens...
People get tax money. They all the suddenly have enough money to purchase a car. Then their first payment comes around. I don't see them. I call them. They don't answer, or they have disconnected their phone.
Heres what they don't know.
We install GPSS' in every car we sell. Of course we don't tell them this. Then its really funny how quick they realize their car is gone. You can call and call and call and they won't respond for their payment, but as soon as you take the car, they come running up here with every excuse in the world. "But...but... I just got out of the hospital and couldn't make it up here...."
TOO BAD *****. Thats the most satisfying part. When they cry.
Then they lose their down payment and we get to resell it all over again for the same price.

isnt the gps system illegal in some way anyway? unless disclosed verbally or in the contract....seems to me it would violate privacy laws in some way

That's a tad cold. I gotta agree with Mr.Org that seems a lil on the shady side if you ask me.

well i mean they dont even have to say it, if the purchaser signs an agreement saying the gps unit is on the car then all is on the up and up, and i say if they dont abide by the **** they signed go snatch the damn car b/c theres nothing worse than having a loss passed onto the consumers who do it the right way

I understnad what you meant. What I was getting at is that it has to be disclosed somewhere otherwise I would think it's illegal. But overall the OP seemed a lil cold no?

seems f'ed up to me cause you can have a crook dealer give your position and your car will be stolen.

We just went to a seminar and we don't have to disclose any information on the cars since its used. So its legal.

yea, i mean snatching **** and not having the heart to care is cold, but honestly im sure it becomes repetitive, if they really had a problem where they couldnt pay up then they should contact the dealer asap....otherwise theyve neglected to contact them and the dealer comes to get back what is technically theirs at that point

When this is something you do 45 hours a week, you get tired of the excuses. If you don't have the money, don't buy the car. I could care less about these people If they want to try to run, they deserve it.
I posted this because march and april are the biggest months for reposessions. Because its right after the biggest purchase season which is tax season.

Thats pretty fuked up. I mean, it sucks that people dont pay their car note, but to track them down via GPS that they dont even know about is just wrong. There has to be some sort of law stating that it at least must be in the fine print or something, no?

So it's safe to assume that you work for some type of
buy here pay here car lot because typically only places like that
take such drastic measures......
I don't care how jacked up my credit was, I wouldn't buy a car from a
buy here pay here place....Aside from the ridiculous interest rates, the quality of the cars tend to be shady anyway.

i would agree if it was something that was installed prior to your purchase of the vehicle, but you are knowingly installing a unit that is tracking someones every move without their knowledge is bull****....even though i see it as a valid way to get the car back someone at that dealership could take a liking to a customer, use the gps system to track them down and do harm to them....then what? the dealership gets the **** sued out of them

Understandable. I mean if your going to buy something then pay for it. What I was really getting at was the tone but I guess you could compare it to teachers who are tired of their students not turning in their assignments on time. God knows I was one of them in High School.
And so long as everything is on the up and up with the GPS thing then I guess at least you have a way to recoop your loses

I have no issues with the practice.
However, I think that dealers/finance companies should
disclose the fact that they use the GPS because like someone
said earlier, in a way it is a violation of privacy to an extent.

I am a girl, I generally don't track down guys I am obsessed with.
And yes there is fine print, and we have never had anyone read it. But they do sign in it under the reposession agreement.
BTW. The interest here is really low. We have a cap. Plus anything wrong with the cars is fixed by our mechanic, and we encourage people to bring their own mechanic before buying a vehicle.
Its not really shady, if people would take the time to read what they are putting money into.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before someone figures
out how to disable and or take off the GPS unit.....

protected over the interest of the consumer....

i used to sell cars.. now the GPSS or Drive systems that we used to use were legal.. but we didnt have to tell people about them if they were written in the contract they signed... its not up to use to explain every word thats in a contract they should read for them selves.. now.. if you guys are doin this and not having it in a contract and are not telling them then thats illegal as hell... sounds to me that this a shady car lot.. whats the name so i know not to direct my funds towards you guys
