I need a little help. I have a H22 and finally started changing the waterpump, however the H22's have the automatic tensioner for the timing belt and looks like a special tool is needed hold the tensioner in place when it goes back to the motor. Would anyone happen to have that "STOPPER" is what I believe Honda calls the tool? Or if no STOPPER, how to put the tensioner back on without the special tool? :D

PM vuongy_dong.

you can try to make your own tool, it's a C shaped bracket

better yet, convert your auto to a manual tensioner

I agree with everyone on the auto to manual.

I appreciate everyone suggesting the manual but money is now a concern and I just don't have the extra $200 for the conversion.

Honda sells the tool, or you can get some zip ties to hold the tensioner tight, and then after you get everything together, cut them, and then you will be good to go.

Thanks Em. We tried the zip ties but I think they were just too small, I believe it was the medium ones, because the tie moved just enough to come free. Gonna look for some bigger ties. Thanks Everyone.

I let someone borrow my tool before and they never return it. So I dont let anyone borrow my tools again.

MP I understand your situation because I was in the same at one point, however a tool such as a "STOPPER" will sure to be given back. Vuongy please let me know when I can pick this up, the car is on Jackstands sitting.Thanks.
