After serval weeks speculation, the Lexus IS-F concept has been confirmed to race in the Super GT Championship in Japan. The car will be run in the GT300 class by the team Racing Project Bandoh. The car is no longer named "IS-F Concept" but is now called the Lexus IS350.

The program will have support from Toyota Motorsport. The older Toyota Celica will be run in the two first races before switching to the new IS350 in the third race at Fuji in May.
Japanese Manabu Orido (39) is named as one of two drivers. Orido drove for the team in 1997 when they clinched the GT300 title with a Nissan Silva. The second driver is expected to be announced shortly.
The interest for the new car is reported to be big, with, among others, TEam Takuchi being interested.
If Lexus will make it to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters with this car remains to be seen.
