need help with comp

ok...i bought a comp off a friend. and the desktop background is black. so i decided i wanted a background image, but somethings wrong. i can change the color but cant use an image. its like its locked or some ****. im running windows XP. help plz.

System Restore. go back as far as you can.

or you could right click mycomputer go to manage click users and reset the admin's password log in as admin and delete all usere but that one and use that one.

either way i would get an Xp disk and reload the hole system. and reinstall xp.
that way you dont have any of there Bull Sh!t back ground programes slowing you down. but make sure u get drivers. if yout not smart with computer then pay some tech place 100 bucks to do it for you.
