I've never posted here but some of you know me out there :D
I got bored and decided i'd say what's up and post up pics of my current project, my 2004 M3.
Someone (and I know who you are now, *****) keyed the car up a few months back and I ended up getting a new paint job out of it...
all I can say to you is THANKS. All of my dents, door dings, rock chips, etc etc have been taken out and I think the car looks totally different.
JRZ Coilovers, an AA Supercharger Kit, exhaust, and a few other goodies are already on the way.
Here are some before, during, and after pics of the project!
Before:

During- the car was originally Topaz Blue...my painter used a PPG Paint which was in the same hue, but added a House of Kolors pearl ice to the clear coat. 7 layers of paint and 5 layers of clear went on the car.

98% finished on the outside..a few more things to do..but it's close.. the pearl ice REALLY makes a dramatic difference in the light and shade...and you can only see the actual pearl ice under extreme sunlight or under a streelight.

thanks :) I'm trying, but it's really hard to capture it perfectly...at least with my non-existant camera abilities...I have an Olympus D500 SLR camera, but don't know how to use it worth crap. I'll try to get the flake pics in next time I do a photoshoot when I get the rest of the stuff installed.

Nice Color, I would love to see the paint in person. How much did it cost you?
The pics really don't..I was stunned when I saw it ...my painter did an amazing job mixing a custom blend for me that was close to stock, but different enough to pop.
As far as cost, consider this:
Number 1: The body work involved in getting rock chips, dents and dings out.
Number 2: Detrimming the entire car- removing all the windows, all weather stripping, mouldings, front and rear bumpers ,headlights, tail lights, etc etc
Number 3: Removing and sanding down the entire car and repriming and sealing the car including the door jambs and trunk jambs
Number 4: Respraying the car with a PPG/House of Kolors paint that is about $500.00 per gallon and the car required well over a gallon...not including the clearcoat cost, the pearl ice cost, and the other materials involved.
Number 5: Installing a fiber-reinforced plastic trunklid and installing a carbon fiber front lip ....that trunklid took a WEEK to prep since just painting it would have made it look wavy...like a cheap body kit
Number 6: Reinstalling everything and wetsanding and buffing.
A custom paint shop charges around $10,000 for this type of paint job. Magnum in Marietta wanted around $12,500 for a job this magnitude.
I paid....$3000.

lol..I don't care...to be honest, I've actually moved from Atlanta to Seattle, WA..my family and such are still in Georgia. The car is about to get WA tags on it.
And as far as slamming it, my coilovers are going on next week :goodjob: I had to make an appointment to get the car aligned, dialed-in, and corner balanced.

LOL...i KNOW ...my painter put the M3 badge on the wrong spot, but I didn't want to scratch the paint while trying to get it off. When I got the CSL trunk installed, I told him to not put the badge on period.
As far as the color being LSB...a LOT of people have said that..but it's not...the pearl ice reflecting gives it that hue..it's really still a deep, dark blue underneath the clear. The color turned out incredibly I think.
I'll post pics of it up slammed next week..otherwise , thanks for all the comments!!

nice, car looks good!!. im not good with bmw.. do all m3's come with superchargers?
No no...in fact, the first gen M3 (e30) was a 4 cylinder in the late 80s an early 90s..the second gen m3 (e36) was a 240hp 3.0-3.2L in-line 6...the 3rd gen (e46) --my body style-- is a 333 hp 3.2L in-line 6...Superchargers make the car put around 420-500 whp depending on the kit.
And Seattle ROCKS...it's absolutely stunning..ocean on one side and mountains on the other...people always said it rains too much but it's been clear and sunny for the past week...and on a bad day it's really only cloudy... I'm getting a condo on the beach, but it's not going to be finished till april, so the construction company got me an apartment in the meantime...here's the view outside my apartment (my back yard really) :

and here is the view from in front of where my condo will be:

beater and M3... those two dont really go together lol...well I bought the car in Virginia on a rainy day..there were SO many rock chips, door dings, and a few small dents that were there. The stock wheels are not supposed to be black, that was the gunmetal paint coming off from the last owner using an abrasive brush on them. I was pissed when I got it home and saw all the flaws.
All's good now though!
