So I'm writing a two part paper on this issue. One is going to be pro and the other explaining the con. What are your thoughts? Pros and cons? I've been reading and watching vids online and it's a bit interesting. Any bit of info/opinion will be helpful so chime in peeps:D

good luck with your paper man. I submitted a classical argumentative paper last week and still haven't gotten it back. My girl got hers and she got a D.I wish I could contribute something but I honestly haven't done any research on the subject.

Really to play Devils Advocate...
I think they should require everyone over the age of 18 to get a gun license. This way criminals would not know who carries weapons. It would cut down on crime (who wants to try and rob someone who might have a gun). On the other hand, more guns, the more chance there is that teens or children could get a hold of them and this may lead to more school shootings or accidental deaths from playing with weapons. I tend to lean towards the first scenario and just enforce gun safety......

i think the laws on guns are ok the way it is. the gov need to enforce it better thats all.

you know that owning a gun license means you can sell guns, so i dont see how that would help either way

do you mean a concealed weapons permit?

An armed society is a polite society. Alaska does not require a concealed carry permit, the people there are all very nice to everyone. When I was in Seward, Alaska the first murder in 20 years had occurred like a month before we got there and it was still big news. Then again people in the continental states are ****ing loopy.

all I have to say is the obvious anti-gun control: That is that if you take the guns away from law abiding citizens, then what remains is in the hands of the criminals. Good luck to the gov't on completely controlling that.

accidental deaths from playing with weapons
Don't mess with natural selection. It's in place for a reason.

you only need more gun control if you're shaking uncontrollably and can't hit the target.

continental is a debatable term for the 48 states. because continental was brought about before we owned Alaska. but technically continental refers to states on the N. American continent so Alaska can be considered one as well.

most people like to use the term contiguous instead of continental.

sorry, back on topic LOL

Pros:
- The democrats get what they want (only pros for communists)
- Crime becomes much easier and safer to commit

Cons:
- Crime rate increases exponentially relative to the amount of 'gun control'
- Only the criminals have weapons (law abiding citizens will be unarmed)
- One step closer to the liberals creating a socialistic society
- No way to defend ourselves against a corrupt government
- Less tax revenue on firearm sales and ammunition sales (dems will likely transfer this revenue loss to the upper classes)
- a million other things, but these are the main items.

Anyone who says "the current gun laws are acceptable" is clueless. Georgia has some of the strictest gun laws in the country, and they are unacceptable. I constantly email our senators to try and get certain bills passed, do they respond? No. But at least I try. Gun control is somthing we should all worry about, because people like Osama and Hillary want to rid the general population of their arms. And they are pumping so much BS that people actually believe that socialized medicine, and gun control work. It what people want to hear: so called "solutions" to problems, but everyone is to stupid to sit back and realize that most of these "solutions" are BS, they are trying to get votes.

Gun control as we know it is all cons, no pros! Anyone that thinks otherwise has been brainwashed, for proof just look at other countries with firearm bans stricter than ours.

Jamie, want to go shooting Saturday?

I'm pretty sure Georgia gun laws are nothing like laws in the Northeast. Ever heard of the gun BAN in D.C.? We got it easy in GA mang.

DC is bad, some of the worst.

But GA is one of what, a dozen states that does not allow open carry with out firearms license. GA just now (about a year ago) passed the "shoot first, license to murder". A bill similar to many other states.

We are somewhere in the middle road, if you think we "have it easy" you are a fool. Relative to DC, yes, we "have it easy" but in the grand scheme of things we don't.

If you don't think our gun laws are crap, then define "public gathering" and if you cant come up with an all inclusive definition off the top of your head then look into it a little, its worth noting the vagueness of this common GA law term. Yes there are some decent one sentence definitions out there, but none are fool proof. There are several items like this in GA law. Case in point: our gun laws suck and they are only getting worse.
