I'm considering buying some 16's for my scion xb and my OEM rim/tire weigh exactly 4.9lbs less than the after market rims

my question is .........is 5 lbs going to mess up my fuel economy that bad or should I roll the factory and save gas

I once heard the for every pound of wheel weight is like carry 10-15 pounds inside you car?!??!?!?!??! sounds weird whatta you guys think

You probably wont tell any has mileage difference unless the outside diameter is larger, in which case your speed o will read slow and will make your calculations off. But the wheels themselves will make very minimal difference!

yeah I used a tire calculator and it said ""when traveling 60mph I'll really be going 60.6mph"" so that seem like a VERY minimal difference ,the over all circumference is almost the same between the stock and the after market rims

I don't think it will hurt your MPG noticeably. I would think that you'd get better MPG if you do a lot of hwy driving since you already have all that weight moving already.

I didn't notice an increase (or if there was, it was minute) in MPG when I had my 17s compared to the stock steelies.
