u will get alot of different answers i say go with what u feel comfortable with dont just get a 6 cuz it looks gook and is fast. safety b4 satisfaction cuz u can always sell a bike. but look at gsf500 ninja500 or 650 katana bandit sv650. also take the msf riding course or honda riding course.:goodjob:

I started off on a 99 ninja 500R, then got a 06 Katana 600 and traded it in on a 05 Busa. Seeing that you are just starting out I'd go with either a 500cc Ninja or the 600 Katana.

Very few people keep their first bike more than 2 years. Start small and start cheap.
You can find the 2008 Kawasaki Ninja-250 (http://z.about.com/d/motorcycles/1/7/a/7/-/-/08_Ninja250R_Left.jpg) or a 2004 GS500 (http://gstwin.com/images/2004suz-gs-04-small.jpg) for $3500-or-less. (I would go with the Kawi!).

By time you have ridden around a bit, you should have a better idea of what you want to upgrade to.

Dont quote me on this, but i have heard that bikes usually need an engine rebuild around 20K miles. I have heard of an RC51 hitting 100K miles with basic routine maintenence done when it is suppose to be done.

^^WTF are you talking about. Only race bikes need engine rebuilds. Are you talking about valve clearance adjustments? Do you know anything about engines?
