Well here are some more pics I took today of the car. I still need to lower the rear another inch or so to get it sitting right, but its ok for tonight im lazy. The front rides great now that ive done the tophat mod and put my tokicos on in front. Still wth stock ef rear struts but its cool, cause the rear coil is almost all the way up, and it rides fine. XD Im only the second person to do the tophat mod on a 3gee, and man is it a good idea. Gives autocross, and others a chance to use stock struts with lowering springs or coilovers, and not blow them during the course of the autocross runs, same goes for people on the street. The strut has full shock travel so extended life of the strut. But anyway on to the pics, and Im hoping to be 5spd, and obd1 turbo by August or September depending on funds. CHeers guys. :goodjob:
Also her is a link to my build thread. http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62246
At the moment its at 16 pages and a ton ofm pics, so be careful lol.

A tophat mod, to give the shocks complete travel even when lowered or slammed. Tophat can be raised/lowered or tilted or infinitely adjusted to fit suspensions needs.

^My brother...its a generic Magnaflow if thats any help.
i thought it was a ws2 cheap knockoff, i want a ws2, but 180$ is a bit much for a muffler...lol
i bet ur accord would look pretty good with the old 18's it came with at the height its at now..

^Maybe....but imo 18s are too big for a Honda....and I had a bad night on the mountain with em, so I will only run 14s, or 15s now. I have MSW gold mesh going on, I just haev to get new tires, and get them bored out a couple mms.
18's are alright for a accord.. BUT, i do agree..

Scare you how lol. They are safe. A guy on 3geez.com has been using em for autocross events for about a year and they have held up. Ive already put a good bit of strain on em and they seem to be stronger than needed. :)

What exactly is the "build"? Just mods you have done? I would love to see a set of tasteful wheels on this car, have anything going in the interior?

I just read your other page and saw the turbo, interesting. I like the rear strut tower bar you made.

^Yeah wheels are going on at a little later date. I have a set of Gold O.Z Msw Mesh, I just need to get them bored out slightly. Im hoping to be done rebuilding the engine, 5 spd swap, obd1 turbo by the end of august/early september if my budget will allow.

Looks clean. I've never seen the tophat mod before, but in theory it should work and apparently its working fine for you. Props for modding something different rather than all the same Hondas everyone else does.

Clean car, just needs better wheels. And your build link says you have a boost gauge, but no turbo?? Well I guess you can at least use it for vacuum for now. LOL

There should be pics of the turbo in the thread. IM not turbo YET. Just took a preemptive stike on the guage....and yes it is running on vaccume. :goodjob: Oh also I have better wheels. I should be turbo by mid August-early September is money permits.

If you don't mind me asking what is your turbo budget?
mushroom_toy

^IM trying to make it less than $600. :) Not including rebuild though. I still have a bunch of parts to source, but so far everything has been free.

Unfortunately I did not buy them. But fortunately I made them. All in all I got 2 sets of front tophats at the junkyard = $4, and all the hardware at lowes = $12, so everything together was about $16-18 bucks.

Nice, that budget will make for MUCH creativity! Are you going to do some sort of AFC and tune via tail sniffer? I'm guessing you are not messing with injectors or anything like that? I don't think I could get my piping done for $600, really looking forward to what you come up with.
Any reason you haven't considered an N/A swap?

Yeah the whole point of my car is to build something with what I have or as cheap, but reliably as possible. IM probably going to be running dsm 450cc injectors with a walbro 255lph pump. Also will be running a B16 intake mani.
Reason im not fooling with Na is the lack of power for price. I was gonna do itbs on the accord, but changed my mind and am gonna do Itbs on my truck now. :)

Where did you get that 2nd set of top hats? The "top" set?
mushroom_toy
02-19-2008, 05:50 PM
I actually bought 2 sets (4 tophats) at the junkyard. I still have the original set that is not drilled through, incase I ever have to put them back on.

Hmmm, interesting :goodjob: So now, is that just an "extended" top hat then?
mushroom_toy
02-19-2008, 06:05 PM
^Pretty much. It allows me to completely slam the car and have full shock travel. :) Basically its just two sets of tophats with the studs knocked out and redrilled, with the bottom set remaining on the car like stock. You then run carriage bolts through, and tighten the first tophat down to the strut tower, then you add nuts/locknuts and put the 2nd tophat on, and the 2nd one is where you mount the strut. :)
