I am posting this question because I dont know where to go. I just got my integra back and to find out the hood on the car is slightly off line with the hood latch, leaving me to tie it down. I want to know if I can get hood pins and keep it down or if a body shop can straighten it out for me, because it looks like it is away from the latch by a inch or so, somebody help me please.....

hood pins would work. Just unscrew the latch off the hood and install the hood pins. but if it is out of line the hood may scrape the fenders and it wont shut completely anyways.

It will stay down if you push it down, but as sonn as you let up it comes up, so do you think hood pins will help me til i get a jdm front in about a month and a half??

I don't think it's closing well?

Its not closing for the fact the previous owner got it wacked and it was not lined up correctly, its not noticeable to the naked eye, but when you close it you know its off

Take pictures of the latch compaired to the hook on the hood. Is the rad. support bent?

Yes, if it's not too bad, that or replace it.

take pics of the latch, you can pull it out or buy another one (radiator support) to make it line up.

The hood latch has some adjusmtent to it too, just loosen the bolts.

But yeah get pics.

Worse case you can run hood pin s, but you should be able to get it to close the right way

You should be able to straighten it out then. Me and my friend had to do it on a 240sx I had that had a severly bashed up rad. support. There should be adjustment points on the rad. support and latch. You'll have to take the bumper off, loosen everything up and get it to line up/latch together and bolt it back down.

I'm not really sure. Not hard though. Do you have the hood pins already?

I dont think I can pull this off, mine isnt bashed up badly because i didnt know until i tried to close it, I will see if the rad support is bent or is it just the latch is out of position

So lemme get this all down...

you bought a 13 year old car with frame damage

and now you're surprised that the hood won't close.

and you're looking to us for help.

My advice?

/endcar and get a new one unless you have some cash to throw at a bodyshop, and they're gonna replace the core support. I just had it done on my s14... not cheap.

If its already ****ed up just adjust the hood latch with its built in adjustment. You can adjust any latch. If that doesnt work, BFH (serious honest) until it lines up. You can adjust the latch bar on the hood itself as well.

Just put washers behind the latch to line it up...or drill out the holes to tweak it a bit. It's just a freakin latch for god's sake, lolol!!

thats a little bit drastic....have you tried loosening the bolts that attach the hood to the car? maybe if you play around with those you can get it to line up some.

post the pics of the hood latch and lock....

You going to put it on yourself? You know you have to remove the radiator support and reweld a new one on right? If you think shimming or tweaking a hood latch to make it work is a big deal you're gonna be hating life installing the SIR-G/ITR frontend.

I think you should either fix the car, or just use a power cable to tie it down. That's what I did with my first s13 so I can go cheap and keeps it on the road.

I'm merely speaking as someone who has had a metal hood fly up, wrap around the A pillar of a topless del Sol, and smack me in the head.

Yeah.. not important.. just a hood latch... definitely something that can easily be ghetto rigged into working.

There is wayyyyyyyyy too much confusion in here for such a small fix.

BTW if the latch is off, and the hood sits flush, put hood pins on...or juust beat the hell out of everything and make it aligned again I did that with my 24gay.

And out of curiosity what happened to the body work?

I got a do it yourself guide for the install, but like you said it requires welding and i have no experience with that

I think he got it hit on the pass. side, when you open the door it makes noise, so i dont think any bodywork was attempted
