So i was driving down pleasant hill earlier and saw a black r33 GTS sitting in their used lot. With nothing better to do i decided to have a look.

I walked over to it and * * hmm prolly............. $25,000 they want?

Now as i went over it i saw that it had the rb25 and whatnot......

i was then approached by a salesman man who said it was

1. $23,000... :lmfao:
2. A 1993...

Now im sure the r33 was released in 1995 and i dont know if obd2 was something done in japan but it sure looked as though the car had a evap canister which i think is something obdII cars come with.....correct me if im wrong!

EDIT... Wikipedia (i know not great source :tongue1: ) says production began Aug 1993 but it still says sold 95-98!

I looked at the vin badge which looked like this

This is a nissan vin found on google images! Its not the one on skyline! It's just there for reverence
http://garage.projectraine.com/content_guides/240_vinmid/page_0201.jpg

Heres some questions i got bout the vin

what is the actual vin for a japan car? ~ Firewall said ECR33- and five numbers. (i know E = rb25, C = 4ws r33 = duh)

what is a model number?

and where can you tell the vehicle year? ~ cause no way its a 1993!

i want to see where you can tell the year of the car and that one pic is all i could find.

i know usa vins are 17 symbols long....but i was wondering

1. what is a Vin for a japan car look like.
2. What is a "model number" on a nissan vin badge

the skyline had a proper japan vin badge that looks exactly like the 240 one i posted

yes i do as you can see i put in post #1.

but... a production and sell year are different..... that why your 87 starion is a 87 starion...... ive read to believe that the first "sell year" of r33s was 1995

NEWSFLASH

Most the cars brought in were by Motorex. Motorex got busted for doing this. All cars they registered and applied for a VIN were all classified as R32 skylines. So you bought a new R34?? Well Motorex wasn't allowed to sell cars 95 or later. What did they do? They claimed everything as a R32 and gave it a older production date.

There is no such thing as a "Japanese VIN" They don't use VIN numbers for JDM cars. They all get serial numbers. Japanese serial numbers are NOTHING like a US VIN. All Skylines brought through Motorex had special assigned VINs.

Now if it truely had a VIN plate, then it was fraudulently aquired.

If you really want to know (in case i missed something), contact Tripper at Cool Cat Racing, he can tell you EVERYTHING.

Well, they DID make some AWD GTS's...

However, I still stand by my statement: No GTR, no care. :)

My buddy had a '94 R32 GTR (one of the first in the US back then). It was nice I guess, but it lacked in looks.

ECR33 = RB25, 4 Wheel steering, R33

it would have to be ECNR33 for it to have AWD....

Ruiner... i agree 100% on the "Has to be GTR"... im just tryin to figure if what the Gwinnett Nissan is doing is legal. I just dont think there is a way that car is a 93 unless whoever traded it in lyied to them about it.

I wouldn't spend money on that car man are you kidding me. I could buy it and sell it for a profit sure but I'm not the type of person to do that. If I'm going to buy a car I buy it cause I actually want it to keep mod and drive balls out.

It's a GTS-t , they started production in'93 for the R33 GTS's but made the R32 GTr until '94 with the V-Spec II. It has a RB25 in it, the vin plate shown is not on the car, it is a "State" legal car, not a Motorex car. It is "Legal" depending on how "grey" your interpratation of the law is. GPN is an idiot for trying to sell it, b/c if someone wrecks it they will be sued for selling a non federal car. The whole car has been repainted

R33 GTS's were built in 93 and 94. The car would be titled here as the year it was built. The R32 GTR was the GTR for years 93 and 94 the R33 GTR started in 95.

Titling the car is not a problem in a red neck state like this. I could go down to the tag office with a matchbox car and get title. It's getting legal on the federal level that is not going to happen, it's the emissions (passing local is not like federal) and crash test stuff thats the problem.

That car is more than likely not legal. I don't know anyone who federalized a GTS or GTS-T.

Japan doesn't have OBD at all, that is the problem with legalizing these cars. They made the law to were the Skylines have to be 96+ to be imported. This is so they would be required to have OBD_II, which isn't going to happen any time soon.
