Just look at the turbo for a second, try to figure out whats wrong.

Well if you cant see it ill give you some help, the intake on the turbo is mounted up to the intercooler piping, and the side that pushes out the air is mounted up to the air filter. And to make things worse, the intake has a flange in it so that air cannot be blown out. I honestly dont even know how he even got it up to BP. But my question is is when he installed it and didnt see any gains, how did he figure that it was right? I felt bad for the guy, he did it himself and all his friends were laughing at him bc his turbo is mounted backwards, but it just blew me away.

once he gets it turned around he still wont have the wg hooked up and it will spike like a mother****er, shoot a rod through the block and he will chalk it up as lesson #2

Other things wrong, 1) Coupler made from radiator hose, 2)Missing vacum line to wastegate, 3) Things held on with zipties, 4) Wires held on with zipties, 5) Zipties held together with zipties, 6) Painted over his heat wrap.

I just honestly dont even know how he even made it up there. I was like where the hell are you getting air into your intake from, and he said his intercooler, and i was like WTF, then that **** must be broke too. I do give him props to doing it himself, but I dont even know a whole lot about turbo cars, bc ive never had one, but at least I know how to hook up the turbo the right way, but you learn the hard way I guess

Ricerness at its BEST!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahhaa
I'm trying to figure out WTF he has sitting on the bottom right of the pic. It seems to be hooked up to the WG and such, but it looks like a flucking fuel pressure regulator!!
The double Pep-Boyz exhaust clamps on the DP won't last long either.

haha the fuel pressure return line is hooked up as stated to the waste gate but if that is the case he is dumping fuel into there. haha except that its not hooked up to fuel at all. hahah the vaccume line is right but the supply line comes off the turbo hot pipe nipple thing lol. brass fitting i would love to see what this gague reads when the car is running

Well when he popped the hood my friend was looking at it and then he came over to us and was like you have to see this, this guys turbo is mounted up backwards. So we started looking and then i realized what he did and couldnt help but laugh a bit. So he cranks it up and we see it air comes flying out of the filter, but it doesnt, then were like WTF and he said that there is a flange in the intake from preventing air from escaping, so basically hes gonna really screw his turbo up if he hasnt already surged it, or whatever its called. But now that I can see the pic close up, there is so much work to be done. He said that hes been working on it since october. Props to doing it yourself, but spend the money and get it done in half the time and the right way.

well when we looked at it for like 5 mins the only thing we saw was the turbo was on backwards. But as i said earlier after i posted this and could see everything close up everyone else and myself noticed alot more. His friends were the ones laughing so, I would to if it was one of my friends who made this bone head mistake.

What about the fact that the exhaust is flowing through backwards as well? The manifold is aiming into the turbo outlet, and the turbo inlet is connected to the downpipe. Awesome.

That is pretty fucking funny LOL but seeing as he worked on it and did everything himself you have to give props to that. I kinda feel sorry for him, but at the same time I'd like to laugh my ass off in front of his face for not understanding how a turbo really works!

if that's the case then that's the only way the car actually runs, because the compressor is spinning backwards at least giving the engine air of some kind.
i personally like the fuel pressure regulator boost controller action, very innovative. thank god he doesn't have any actual fuel lines hooked to it.

I give the man zero props.
He obviously went in to the project without doing hardly any research and he is getting his proper reward. I hardly know anything about turboed cars and I was able to see right away that it was all wrong. Giving that guy props for doing his own work is just like saying the Direct Exhaust Injection guy had a good idea.

Wish I was there!! I would've congratulated him and asked to feature it in a popular BMW magazine...whip out the big camera and go to town on it saying he's going to be famous because he did all the work himself. I'd be like after getting the pics up everyone on the BMW forums is going to know who you are..........and laugh at you

and i agree with nreggie454... he should have at least done a little research... i dont feel bad about laughing at his expense because he had to have known when he fired it up that something wasnt running right.
