I'm working on the video from last night. Forgot I never posted this one over here.

Here it is

http://www.03svtcobra.net/Videos/LankC6Z06VsGT500.wmv

Still somewhat hard to believe that the GT500 needs ~180 RWHP extra to run even with a ~500-510 RWHP C6 Z.

For comparison, here are the runs with the 640 RWHP one - This is not the linked video, but an older run with a different GT500
YouTube - Lankhoss' C6 Z06 Vs. KB '07 Shelby GT 500 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsoN157-M00)

I was told that the GT500 does have headers - and dyno'd 670 RWHP. I didn't know about this until after I made the video.

Also, the driver / passenger in the GT500 are ~215+ each - the driver / passenger in the Z are ~165 and 145 - we're big dogs, :ninja:

We did run with the GT500 not having a passenger and me in the Z - and the GT500 pulled about a fender up until he had to shift into 5th - then the Z slowly pulled back.

Seems a lot of people are calling BS on this video on other forums (Streetfire idiots especially) and claiming that the dyno #'s for the cars must not be correct.

However, the majority of people just don't seem to have a clue as to how big of difference weight makes in a race. The Z06's race weight with occupants was ~3420 lbs, the GT500 was ~4,430 lbs. A 1,000 lb difference will take a massive amount of HP to overcome. The Z06' dyno #'s are HOT and the GT500' #'s are with a cool-down.

other than the weight most people dont take into consideration is the broad torque range on the sweet tune lankhoss has

I think its just the 427 being a beast in itself.

Tune is minimal as tuning a WOT pull is as simple as a/f and timing maps.

that guy in the white gt500 actually was on the dyno this weekend..and it made exactly 640whp

Now this makes sence.

With this new numbers to back up the math...

GT500 has a W/P ratio of: 6.7 pounds per hp

&

Zo6 has a w/p ration of: 6.8 pounds per hp

And if you add the 20" rims then you get what we saw in the Video.

Remember though, Lank pulls that white GT500 (640 RWHP) about 2 cars when they both get a good start - the runs where Lank is running next to the GT500, he spun pretty bad at the start - that's also with the GT500 being somewhat heat soaked.

P:W isn't everything. You gotta look at how flat the powerband is. I know KB's usually make crazy torque and an awesome powerband, but it seems higher ci engines really excel in that department.

As an example, I was talking with the guys at MTI. Their Stage II Heads/Cam package makes 580rwhp. But their "extreme velocity" completely rebuilt 454ci motor "only" makes about 30 more rwhp than that. However, it makes about 70 more rwtq, and 500ft/lbs at 1800 RPM's. They showed us a dyno sheet of one of them, and the torque curve was literally FLAT. The power curve had a steady incline, and was STILL climbing at the end of the graph (never dropped off). That's where these 6.0+L motors are really getting an advantage. The 5.4L is a very stout motor, but I still think the LS7 is going to make "better" power than they will.

Also, the white and black GT-500's had different gearing. The white one had the stock 3:55 gears, so I pretty much pulled out ahead of him immediately. The black one has 3:73 gears, so down low it's really stout. But once I hit 4th gear, it's over (not to say I'm raping him or anything). The Z06 has very tall gearing, but it has the torque to pull through those long gears. Smaller motors aren't as able to do that, and generally need to have closer gearing for a good powerband.

Not much, just work and anger management classes :D LoL I'm not kidding. Long story, but point is it wasn't my fault and I'm taking the classes to get my charges dropped.:goodjob:

No new stuff performance wise. I'm waiting on taking care of other issues at the moment. I'm taking my time with this one. I've almost got the outside appearance done, just waiting on some stuff..... Next on the agenda will be brakes, suspension and wheels. Then I'm going to tackle the performance. :goodjob: I'm definitely upgrading the turbo this time around, just unsure of what I want so that's why I'm doing everything else first. No track time anytime soon. I'm trying to get a trip with some friends rounded up to go to Florida for some tuning. ;) That's the only performance thing I want done at the moment. Really it's so I can get my gas mileage back up like my other one. This one gets horrible gas mileage. :tongue1: I know I bought an Evo and shouldn't be concerned but it truly bothers me.

Not sure what's up with that red one for sale.:???: Seems to be a good deal. I'm not knocking at that car at all but when I was looking for another Evo I found a black Evo(cleaner and more mods) similar to that car for $24k. That sounds more reasonable..... ;)
