View Full Version : Finally lowered the beast.

haha. Well its finally finished, and Im gonna leave the ride height alone at the moment. I might lower the front another turn or two, but im not sure yet. The front looks higher cause front tire is 185, and rear is 195. Spring rates are 450 in front/350? in rear. Its a bit of a stiff ride so far, but I can deal with it. I think it gives the accord a lot more character. All opinions welcome.

Hopefully the weather will clear up enough for me to finish a second coat of paint on my headliner, so i can get my interior back in the car.

naw, you'll be fine. I dont have problems with 90% of speed bumps and I'm pretty sure that I'm lower than you:

I dont know i was thinking about it but I dont want to take a lot of chances of bottoming the front out. Since im using ef coilovers the rear has full shock travel on my car while the front has pretty much none. Also these wheels are going on once I get them ready. XD :goodjob:

Hmm you may be right but see the problem with mine is the stabilizer bars are like 1 1/2 inches off teh ground, maybe less. Looks like theyll hit before anything else.

OK, I have a question for everyone. I have a decent set of Tokico blue (dont think theyre blown) and would they handle the 450lb spring rate in front with a decent drop. Not tucking tire, but a tiny bit lower in front than I am now.

JDMjoe
02-06-2008, 07:21 PM

mushroom_toy
02-06-2008, 07:40 PM
^So far its great. Like I said the suspension was stiff, but when I went an inch lower in front it got a little bit bouncy. Im thinking about rasing it up to the height in those first pics, but after driving it ill see. Man the camber in front is good, i love it, but I wonder how fast it will east up these low treaded tires lol. I might be rolling stocks again for a while soon lol.

green91
02-06-2008, 08:19 PM
I never noticed camber wear on mine until i started driving on the highway lol. Is there anyway you could extend your shock mounts to get some travel and reduce some bounce?

Marta Mike
02-06-2008, 10:34 PM
Looks a lot better man. Id go ahead and put the blues on. I wouldnt go much lower. But with the proper strut it should be better. I know even with my full coilovers when they were too low.........SLAMMED it was a bit bouncy but damn it was sexy-lol. So when u saw my car.....it wasnt that low-lol. But it looks much better, cant wait to see it with the wheels on it!

mushroom_toy
02-07-2008, 12:21 AM
Thanks guys yeah, while in town tonight I went ahead and raised it up two turns again, and some of the bounce went away. I definitely need new struts, or a better strut this 450lb spring rate is gonna kill my suspension lol. I got some advice about using the accord tokicos i have on these coils and they said not to, but I think im gonna do it an see anyway. I mean hell I only paid 15 for the tokicos.

mushroom_toy
02-07-2008, 12:35 AM
^Indeed, already feeling much better than it did. Only problem I have though is the spring rates....maybe later on I might get some less stiff coils XD. What i really need is a good strut to pair with them though. Say you dont have any extra front Ef struts do ya, that can handle 450lb. coils?

all i got is the coilovers that are on my car now. I got some springs but thats it. Im running 575 front and 700 rear with poly bushings...

both. i think the lowest is 500 lol. The thing is you cant go to stiff or to low on those shock without getting them revalved. you can over work a shock with a stiff spring and they will leak. run a adjustable shock 1 turn from full stiff

IM thinking about putting the 450lb springs in rear, and the softer ones up front with the tokicos. I figure since the rear has almost full suspension travel even when lowered (since im using a civic coil/strut) the stiffer spring might be ok in the rear, but i dont know yet. im getting some opinions.

I wish I could find info on the arospeed ef coilovers though, as i dont know what spring rate they are, just know theyre yellow lol.

if you plan on running a front bar, run a HF front with ST rear and go 350 front and 475 rear. If no front bar, run 400 F and 500 R with rear ST bar.

how much did you lower it?????

mushroom_toy
02-07-2008, 03:58 PM
^To tell you the truth I have no clue, I just slapped them on and lowered it to my preference, lowered the front about 5 turns then raised it back up about 2 1/2 turns. I would say Im about 2-3in in front and 2-2 1/2 in rear. I think, dont quote me on it though.
