I think most racing game fans are on the Gran Turismo vs. Forza sheet but some other lesser known games were pretty good to. Heres some i really liked and wish proper sequals would evolve onto the PS3. The most amazing thing about the games is the very accurate mapping of the Shuto Expressway and Bayside route "Wangan" where the famous street racing really happend.

The Trailers are some of the best ever and are pretty good at depicting the games style. The games are also introduce you to the chassis naming systems of Japanese cars cause in TXR3 cars didn't have manufactuers names. HKS, WestCorvette Jp, Bippu, Re Amemiya are aslo all in the games.

there not bad for low budget stuff and are alot better imo compared to any of the need for speed titles. I admit the drift version that came was horrible but that was made by a different group and was based on the initial d arcade game!

those games are amusin for about 2 minutes to me. I just don't like racing games with poor physics, especially when they are as repetative as this series is. There is a touge style game in the series that is a bit more amusing, but only for about 3 mins.

sme games I'm currently enjoying are Race 07, GTR2, and R Factor. these are all simulation style on PC and loads of fun in my opinion.

Agreed, been playing rFactor for a couple years now, so many mods and tracks there is no reason to ever buy another racing game. GTR2 is pretty good also.

holy crap. I had TER3 on my ps2 and absolutely loved it. Practically the only game I killed my console with. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to beat the last dragon boss(driving the fd iirc) cause my gay ps2 kept freezing at the opening scene. repps for knowing a good game

I want to get into GTR2. Been browsing and researching different steering wheels. There is a video on youtube of a person's cockpit setup. He made his own shifter and everything.

XBOX 360 has Import Tuner Challenge, which is a continuation of the TXR series. Ubisoft picked it up, but Genki still made the game.

True, Burnout Paradise is awesome, but modifying a car is part of the "fun" that you don't get. It's a personalizing thing, and it's pretty cool to see what other people online come up with.

Oh, and the NFS series died after Hot Pursuit 2.

unless you have several thousand dollars to spend, a logitech G25 is great for around $300. bought mine from tigerdirect for $310 quite some time ago wen they came out. for the price it can't be beat, but if you're baller status there are definately some better solutions. you can check out racesimcentral.com forums for some ideas.
