urgent need help???

just installed a short ram intake in my 2001 jetta GLS but when i connect the MAF sensor the car shuts orr after a couple seconds but when i dont connect the sensor it runs fine but a light in the dash illuminates with a symbol that i dont know what should i do ???

it should work though i dont want 2 go back 2 stock theres gotta be a solution should i just ignore the check engine light

take the maf out and clean it with some maf cleaner you can get it from pepboys or autozone. what happened was the the oil on the filter got on the maf and is messing up the readings. you should be fine after the cleaning, if that doesn't work you'll need a new maf.
