Another wise choice Julio..lol.
As a thread starter, what college/university are you attending? What is your major? What is you intended career choice? If you are in a graduate program which school are you attending and your chosen program?

I have a BS in Chemisty
Currently attending UGA Pharmacy school working on my PharmD.

I have a degree in computer operations from Dekalb Tech. Graduated Dean's List, making A's throughout. Before I went there, I went to College at Boca Raton(just for fun), Georgia State(where I actually made the basketball team), and Georgia Tech. That's it for me. Later, QD.

I'll be going to Morehouse College in a few weeks.
I'll either be majoring in chemistry or pre-med.
The top goal is to become a cardio-vascular surgeon.

actually we wish she would of gotten into UGA b/c of the $$$(& her parents are UGA alumni), Mercer is 22k a year, but it is a good school, it was the #1 sought after pharmacy school in the nation last year. Kate is in 2nd year this year, she works for both Kroger/Egleston. What year are you? Do you currently work as a Tech/Intern?

I remember when I talked to the admissions lady at Mercer and she told me tutition was over $20k a year and I almost pissed my depends. Even though I live like 10 mins away from Mercer, I just was not sold on their program. I hear good things though. I'll being going into my 3rd year. I work as a tech/intern. I do compounding, IV's, and etc, but I also do contract IT work during the summer. Clinical work is a lot more laid back. I try not to work fulltime during the school year b/c I have no time for it. The last year will be all internship. I think the best Pharm School are on the west coast, but that's just my opinion. Is she getting any job offers now for when she gets licensed? I'm getting some offers. I have a friend working for Walgreens fresh out of Pharm School making $98k+. But both of you guys know its worth it at the end.

ya the tuition is crazy at mercer... as far as intern Egleston pays pretty good:

16$ 1st year
17$ 2nd year
18$ 3rd year
(and all of the overtime you want; 1.5 x pay)

she has been working for kroger for like 4 years i think, and she really like it there so she will probably end up there. her boss at kroger is really well liked and was pharmacist of the year 2004; she wants kate to be their 3rd pharmacist there up at hamilton mill.

i know kroger is starting at $96k+ a year right now, they were paying $100k+ sign on bonus not too long ago for people want to move to savannah. a friend of ours who is in rotations now she got offered $115k to move to chattanooga to work for bilo, & another friend got an offer to buy into a private one that is currently making $500k a year. so i guess the options are defiantely endless. it is a great field to be going into; i'll just be glad when she is done and working :D

if you ever need any contacts for CVS i have a friend who is a DM for them in the g'nett area.

I appreciate it! I hate retail but I'm gonna have to do it to pay back some loans. My ultimate goal is research. I know her hours are crazy in general b/c mine are during the school year. So how you gonna feel when she makes more than you...assuming she will be..lol.

Ya she talked to a big wig up in DC about doing research and he told her if you don't do it out of college you never will b/c of the $$$ factor... he said up there they were starting them out making $60k+ a year and retail was $80k+, thats a little bit of a difference.

now have you looked into working for the gov, now that seems like a good job, they start our at $45k(bring home after taxes) a year top level pharmacist make like $80-100+k(bring home after taxes) that is good money. also healthcare is free, and you can prescribe in some locations.

as far as her making more $$$ than me :D no problem here... all of the female pharmacist my wife works with none of their husbands work :lmfao: . its a tuff life but someone has to do it.

Well, I know I have to do retail for few years, hell let's face it the money is damn good. After that, I'm still weighing my options. I know I will be moving out of the south and probably heading back to the northeast or to the west coast. Yeah my gf keeps asking me when I'm going to be done...lol. The great thing about Pharm School is that chicks out number the guys 2 to 1.

Starting GA state in 10 days and going to work on a premed degree, and afterwards go to med school, though no clue which one. Too early for that haha. Hoping to transfer to UGA though after the first year.
