So, I am curious. I don't seem to see that many preludes on here or at all, tuned or even stock. Where they built in small numbers? Do people not like them? Then why? I think they look good especially the 5th gens and Ive seen some clean gen4s. Could it be the powerplant? I hear people wanting the prelude motor for swaps right? <<my info isnt straight about that. Is it the handling? The 5th gen SH was rated the best handling FWD car.
What's the deal :thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking: :thinking:

heres a pic of my old 2000 Prelude that I sold in 2005. At the time I sold it, the car had a jdm SiR S-Spec swap, A'PEXi N1 catback, exedy clutch/flywheel, other random bolt-ons, tein springs, seibon c/f hood, mugen aero kit, type S interior, and a few other things i cant think of.
The reason that you dont see more is because parts are a little more expensive than parts for a civic/teg. The engines are strong, but the cars are heavy compared again to a civic/teg. Thats why people take the engines from these cars and put them in something smaller, a concept that has been around since cars were first built.

cuz all the ricers crash them.
i agree with you...
it took me over 3 months of auto tradeing to find my prelude 2 years ago... (good condition and not overpriced), got it for 6800 with 102k.. +18's.
usually if I see 1 prelude per day on the road its a miracle..

hard to see a CLEAN one. i've seen a couple around doraville/buford/gwinnet and about 2 outta the handful i've seen aren't fart-can induced or mexicanized.
i dont cruise around those areas.. im down in gwinett(lilburn) once amonth and i dont see any ludes lol, but whenever i see a lude its most likely stock.. and some lady driving it...
ill bring mine to the V next week im bringing another buddy with a 5th gen.. :D so there will be alittle more ludes then usual.. :P p.s. (ive never been to the V)

IA doesn't benefit Preludes much. I used to be on here all the time when I had my Civic. Most prelude owners I believe would turn to preludepower or something for their resources.

I was refering to what I had found on wiki:
The USDM fifth-generation had a Type SH ("Super-Handling") trim which featured the ATTS, and, along with the five-speed base model, shared the same gearing as the Type S and SiR-S spec trims in Japan. This system allowed Honda to overcome the limitations of front-wheel drive somewhat, and in 1997, Car and Driver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_and_Driver) named the Prelude Type SH the "best-handling car under $30,000

There is a reason for that.
Mom and Dad want their kids to have an affordable A to B car that is cheap on gas. Then the few dumba$$ kids that are stuck watching F&F all weekend, go to PEP Boys and start to mess up the ride. WOW New exhaust tip, WANNA RUNNEM?
That is a part of the Civic to Lude ratio.
Also if you want to see soem more Ludes, go check out www.preludepower.com. We had a huge Lude Meet in Nashville last October. Almost 30 showed up, and it was a short notice event.

preludes are still around. i have a 5th gen myself. The reason why you prob don't see them that much is one honda stopped making the car in 2001. Two, they are not the ideal car to do a build with because of the weight issues. I love my lude but lately i've been going back and forth for awhile on if i want to trade it in/sell it and get a rsx or 00 si.

both of those, especially the SI are downgrades. Keep the lude
its a downgrade powerplant wise but an upgrade in gas/maintenance wise :goodjob:

the rsx is not a downgrade imo, its a well built car and a powerful engine. the SI has a smaller motor but keeps its value very well

true about the rsx, but you gotta remember the prelude is a rare car, makes u special and it looks damn good for a 11 year old design... :D
