Ok I'm looking to get my first import. It's gonna be all motor and I have a pretty limited budget. No engine swaps. I'm on a 5000 budget for just the car and want to know if I should go with the teg or a 240. My knowledge on these cars is pretty limited. I'll have no problem building it, I just dont know what platform is the best starting point for a nice, reliable DD that's quick enough to have some fun in. Thanks.

i have a teggy, its not a gsr, but i would much rather have a 240, just for when u are coming to a big turn and no ones around, DRIFT nigg@... cant really do that in my integra without losing control for a second or 2

I guess I should've also mentioned that they're faster than 240s(stock vs. stock), RWD, have 50/50 weight distribution, a limited slip differential, 4 wheel steering, and have great braking and suspension setups from the factory. Anything made by Honda motor Co. is overpriced on the used market, and 240s are too common, I'm just saying, be different, be rare, and get a fun Rx-7.

Popularity is by no means the reason to buy a car, but the purpose of that post was just to get him considering and looking at 7s. I guess the reason I used that respect thing as a crutch right now is that it was the fastest way to keep people from going "He didn't say an Rx-7 was an option, he said GSR or 240 nag nag nag" I was just putting it out there that, people consider 7s over 240s which was one of his choices so it could be looked at as a viable option as well. I just didn't want to partake in a long drawn out debate about why I mentioned the 7, and having to defend that it IS reliable to the 80% of the community that'll call them death traps at the drop of a hat when they know NOTHING about the rotary engine.

i would say 240 over the teg if your sticking to thoose two options because if you want somthing fun rwd is kinda hard to beat even if its a little slower than the teg.

The rwd of the 240 could be the deciding factor. I'm just not very knowledgable about these cars so I needed outside help. An rx-7 could be interesting. This is just for me to get my feet wet in the import world. I've driven a few imports(300zx, teg, 240, rx-8) and loved them. Insurance on a 300 is a ***** though and I obviously can't balance college/rent with an rx-8. I don't know why a 7 didn't cross my mind but I'll look into it. What are the common swaps done with Integras? I suppose potential engine swaps are a factor because I'll have the time to do something like that in a couple years.(hopefully)

i had two 240sx's, first car was a s13 with ka24de, second car s13 with sr20det...then i had a integra gs-r and now a integra type-r...

they are both great cars...but if you say no engine swaps and your on a limited budget, 240 is not for you.

go with the gs-r , the drive of the car is alot better and its a fun little quick car..

If you are looking into straight line fast, go with a teg. By all means you can swap engine, do turbo upgrades and make more power easier than 240sx or rx7.

I owned 3 240sx, and I would have to say they are slow. But slow does not make them bad cars. They are still reliable and fun to drive with.
87 Turbo II, not saying what you say is wrong, but you either need to push your luck to find a cheap, clean FC, or you have to pay a lot. For 3k, I can find a nice decent S13. I have seen nice T-II going 3800, and I would bought it if I have not bought my S14. Oh, another factor is gas. Good luck with your 20mpg with gas price now a days. And sorry to say that from your pics on the other post, I would rather have the S13, unless you get a repaint.

What about a 92' civic hatch with a b18? As I've stated before I dont know anything about this so what the hell is a b18 and what kind of power can I expect to make from it? I'm planning on trading my Jeep for it so I'll have some money for boost if that would be a good option. I'm guessing I should run it at about 12 psi for reliable daily driving?

Get whatever it is you want. You already have an idea of which way to go. Find the right price and get it. If you build it(right), people will respect it, no matter what it is. But to answer your question, I'm partial to the GSR. If you loke both cars, you can't go wrong, unless you get jerked on the price.

the honda is what it is not going to be as fun to drive as you rwd option imo, but i know u can beat them to death, personally i would never own a fwd car

Get the GSR its far better than the 240 for N/A application. Hondas are just damn good cars anyway they can take abuse. Nissans on the other hand have all this little **** that goes wrong with them. Damn KA. If I where you I would get an EG or EK.

Personally, I'd get something along the lines of a older GS or SC. Perhaps even a Tacoma/4Runner. I'm a huge Toyota buff though. :goodjob:

But, I'd have to ask more about your history of driving to get a good idea of what I think would be best for you.

However, based on the choices you've given us, this is what I've come up with:

For instance, I love Integras (owned quite a few) and they are solid and peppy little cars, but if you have never owned a RWD and you're a newbie driver, stick to this FWD and learn how to drive somewhat decent then jump to a RWD 240.

But, the ******* in me must say this: If you have to ask people what kind of car they think you should get, then you need to take time to figure out yourself before you make any mistakes financially.

The reason they are so rare is because people keep attempting to drift them and they destroy the body, or the break and people cast them by the way side. You ever notice you cant find a clean one anymore, same goes for the 240sx. You cant find a clean one. I thought i lucked out on my buy until i popped, and ill be the first to tell you they are not cheap to fix or keep running. There also seem to be a large following of 7s in Florida and Canada



Owning an Rx-7 is like starting you own company you gotta work hard at it, and invest money in it. You can be afraid to eat/ sleep/ dream/ rotarys.
If you wanna work for wal-mart where there is very little room for advancement and nobody notices anything you do, the community is not very welcoming and ***** about a tone of ****. Buy a 240 or Integra. now mind you there are some of these cars that make it into a management position where everybody knows them and they are great looking cars. Then.. they get stolen.

First off, all motor RX-7's are pretty much garbage, especially considering his budget. Second, the rotor-bomb is far from reliable and 12MPG isn't exactly practical for daily driving. That pretty much takes care of that.


i would give up 50hp to have rwd anyday...If he were considering boost or an engine swap, I'd agree with you. However practical, all-motor KA24's are hardly worth praising and accelerate like turds. RWD is fun, yes but with what the 240 comes with here in the states, it's not a very good choice for a fun N/A platform.

I would say Integra GSR.Practical in terms of gas mileage, great aftermarket support, and all motor? Who gives a sh*t if it's FWD? The GSR does the best to meet the requirements you've set for a car considering your initial options.

I, personally, say go Miata. You can get a sweet NA series MX-5 for under $5000. Practical, reliable, RWD, can move it's own weight, and an outstanding aftermarket support. Win.

I DD a gsr and I must say that it is a great car for both the performance aspect and the NON gas guzzler fee, but there are times when I would love to have an SR or RB powered 240 to tool around in. I say it doesn't matter which way you turn you will choose a great car either choice.
