it is the T8d motor. it is a 1.8 liter, 16 valve, dohc 4 cylinder

Plans: get the intake and install it, one day turbo it (Kfxperformance.com has a kit), get and install a front strut tower bar and a rear sway bar, and possibly ditch the Eibach Pro-kits for a set of coilovers (also from Kfxperformance.com).

Yeah, really the only difference in the Spectra GSX from the Spectra GS is the black ground effects and a stripe that stretches the length of the side of the car (which I removed). I have actually been in the scene since 2000 (used to have a 1996 Honda Accord LX) so I hope I have an ok idea of what is rice.

Sure will. Kias are actually pretty popular in Malaysia, Austrailia, and some parts of Europe. They are getting pretty popular in California now too.

There is a Galant GSX too. AWD non turbo. Its made in Japan and brought here. It was made before the Eclipse so I would imagine it "deserves" it too.

No, it is a 2001 and I bought it in 2004 from a used car dealership so no free Rio although that would ve been pretty cool. There are a lot of modded Kias out there... for instance check out www.streetkiaz.com and browse there. Granted some of them are pretty ricey but some are actually pretty nice. Two on that site have been featured in magazines and webzines. Their screennames are Brainsperm and Haddytech.

I wouldn't have "talked" if I hadn't read it somewhere. They also said the "Diamond Star Motors" was any car that was built within the relationship between Mitsubishi and Chrysler.

Yeah, I looked again and you re right the VR-4's are not DSM. I knew they made them in Japan but I could have sworn I read in the mag that they were DSM. They had an article about DSM's and they just mentioned the 3000GT VR-4 and the Galant VR-4 in the article but not that they were DSM's. I'm not an idiot I promise you that. I just misread that particular article.

By the way, most tuner magazines are pretty ****ing retarded and have misinformation. Basically every article about Galant VR-4s and 3si's are wrong in some aspect with the exception of S3's gvr-4 feature where I told them about the car. Great pictures in that one. :goodjob:

how much of the newer spectras, are similar to the older 96ish sephias? i know they have diff motors. i know the older sephias had a laotof interchangeable mazda parts from the protege.

You remember that spectra from PR, that used to run 10's ful interior with slicks? it was one of the nightwarrior cars.

The newer spectras (3rd Gen 04.5 and newer) have a motor that Kia designed themselves. They no longer use the Mazda engines. As far as i know they have no similarities to those Sephias. Now the 00-01 Sephias are actually just a different body on the same platform as my Spectra. The motor, tranny, struts, springs, interior, etc... are all the same. I can even put the Sephia front end (hood, fenders, bumper, core support, and headlights) on my Spectra (along with the 02-03 Spectra Front end). My car and the 00-01 Sephia have the T8D motor (first motor designed by Kia). By the way, Kia and Hyundai have merged to form Hyundai Kia Automotive Group. Yeah, there is www.kfxperformance.com , www.revauto.net, www.evofusionusa.com , www.seoulfulracing.com , www.sharkracing.com , among others that import parts from Korea and have agreements with companies in the states to produce parts for the Korean cars. Eibach, Intrax, H&R, and other spring companies produce springs for the Kias.
