Well i finally drove a turbo car for the first time today...
It was pretty badass and i want it so bad im just not sure

a modded TSi conquest

reliability and mileage all have to do with how the car is set up. My car hasn't been reliable and gets horrible gas mileage (9-10mpg in city) but then again I'm making an insane amount of power with lowered compression and very little psi. A more conservative setup will prove to be more reliable however.

probably not so reliable.. but a fun car for sure :goodjob:

and for any turbo car (400whp or less) is usually good at gas until you get into boost lol

as long as you stay off the boost gas mileage ain't bad...my gas mileage sucked the first few months I owned my car...lol...I drive like a granny most the time now until I take it to the track...having to put premium gas in it is expensive over time...

Oh trust me, you have YET to ride in an MPI car if you want to experience power, and there are a few bolt on turbo's that make its acceleration eye popping difference ( like a S16G vs a 17C ) - my Starion ( Conquest TSI twin ) will be running tomorrow :D

visit

www.starquestclub.com <--- that forum is god when it comes to them and its where I found both of mine

What do you wanna know about them? :) What year Conquest? These cars are pretty dependable based on their previous owners and how well you take care of them ( preventative maintainence is key ) - esp. if its modded, how it was modded etc

but my previous modded engine ( pistons, head, cam, springs, rod, s16g, etc ) would make it from Lawrenceville to Macon on a 1/4 tank of gas @ 80mph, but you keep your foot in the boost and oh man... sometimes running stock 10psi is the best way to keep your foot in control :lmao: Also one of the easiest engines to ever work on once you learn what is what. You can pull out the engine in tranny in 30 minutes with 2 people knowing what they're doing

Feel free to PM me with any questions pertaining to them - I'm on my 2nd one, my mom now owns one too...

and for the record, ignore what people have to say about RandomGuy's Starion :lmao:

oooh never met him lol

Looks like a good buy if the engine is on par - if its survived 30k miles, the engine is more than likely sound - what turbo is on it?

Its a good buy regardless IMO

drive a wrx/sti, it really gives you a good idea what a allaround turbo car feels like. Its quiet on the standard drive but turns into a beast at 3k.

12a? lol that explains a LOT - thats the stock turbo, tiny little hairdryer. Get a S16G for like $300 and the car wakes up a lot :D

In fact the Group A racing starions raced with 14G's and 17C's - all direct bolt ons

are turbo cars supossed to smoke a little when u get on it or it blows off ?
near the engine like behind the turbo

Stormhammer
01-22-2008, 08:06 PM
not really - define smoke - what color ( bluish or thick white ) - sounds like the turbo seal might just be starting its dying song, which just means upgrade time :D

It could also just be some residue oil or coolant ( if the line isnt in tight enough ) burning off, but since you said when you get on it/blows off...

it was like a white/grey smoke smelt like oil kinda and when u park and turn the car off it came into the cars cabin through the dash:thinking:

hmm, a seal is leaking somewhere ( but hard to say what or where without seeing it to be honest =/ )

Go turbo you will be addicted to the sound of the blow off valve for a while and i just love the feeling when you go from no boost to boost its awesome. I just bought a 2860rs for my sr which im hoping will get me close to 350 whp

Turbo cars are so much fun.

"Vrrrooooommm (spool)zzzzzzzzzeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEE! phish"

And feeling the power when the boost guage is pegged is so nice.

Starion is easy to work on once you know your way around. If its leaking around the injectors its probably the o-rings that are dried up and cracking and not sealing properly, which is a simple pull 2 bolts out, take them out, replace the rubber rings ( so simple ) and reverse order

As for that other smoke, I'd have to see it to tell. I started mine up today once I got it all together and had gotten some oily residue on my downpipe and oh MAN did it ever smoke up a storm.

A turbo car is as easy to work on as a NA car...just more things. But a turbo is a very simple concept.
