just got back this week from finally taking a vacation and making up to NY after 10 years of not being able to go. brought back a few pics, for those who have never been there it may be a suprise that not all of NY looks like manhattan ;). btw, i'm no photo master so i apologize in advance if the pics suck.

a view from the front porch of my grandparent's house

another view in the evening off the porch, the bridge in the pic spans the lake and the border from NY to Vermont.

the south end of lake champlain, taken from Mount Defiance, overlooking Fort Ticonderoga

we took a hiking trip trying to find some climbing areas. a mixture of being out of shape, thinner air (more elevation), and very steep hiking trails made this about a 4.5 mile round trip hike instead of 8 miles as planned. popped these while at the top of the first peak we got to.

these suck because they were taken from the car while driving, but this is an area near Lake Placid (site of the '84 winter olympics) called the cascades. tons of waterfalls and rivers/lakes along this route

and a picture of me trying to hurt myself on a rock face over the lake :)

i'm ready to go back... it's very quiet and peaceful up there. that and waking up every AM to grandma's home cooked breakfast wasn't bad either :D

and just think you could drive about an hour north of here and make like a 20 hour long mountain run from here to their front door!

seriously looks very nice , i wonder if there is any way to make money in such an area..

i made a good chunk of cash fishing for bluegill and perch with my grandfather. they pay 80 cents/pound for bluegill and 1.10/lb for perch at the bait shop because some dude from vermont actually buys them up, cleans them and packages then sends them off to restaurants all over. and i thought they were just crap fish nobody wanted...

oh yes, and firewood. they make some nice extra change from selling firewood. they have a cash box, you drop your cash and take your wood. they've never had anyone take wood without paying, they usually have people leave extra :D.

hey all I use to live up near lake placid in a small city called Plattsburgh... Not much to do, economy isnt good, shitty jobs- hence why I moved here (better opportunities, etc) but the scenery is very beautiful up there esp in winter.
