there's more money to be made in africa then there is in mexico. South Africa is quite booming. Plus, you can always take a boat back to the states, sure it's less conventional and takes much much longer, but if you want in, you want in.. right? Your idea sucks. 23% is from Central and SOUTH (Latin) America, not necessarily all neighboring countries. (Colombia, Brazil, etc are not neighboring countries of Mexico). There are also about 7 other countries in Central America.

But yes, there are about twice as many Mexicans than there are immigrants from other latin and central american countries (as per the breakdown).
