So I some how burnt the clutch on my G35 not really sure how i did this since i only drove it for like 2 days, and the mechanic says i need to get a whole new clutch and i might have burnt other things on it also. So the question is does $1135.35 sound right for a clutch.

if that includes labor, then yes. if thats just the clutch, make sure they use KY.

ok there is a labor cost and they have to replace another part also not sure what it is though. the clutch though will be a stock one.

From a dealership that sounds about right.

Is your G35 under warranty? if not, how many miles is on it

Consider it just luck then, bad luck.

You can get a stage 1 clutch from Competition Clutch for $450

http://competitionclutch.com/dsp_part_detail.php?vinvid=3789

Figure its prob around $500-600 for labor to install a clutch in a G35.

so that sounds about right.

you could always call the dealership an find out what they charge.

What are your syptoms, why do you say its a bad clutch

he just bought the car. people cant drive for sh!t and who ever had the car before him for 60k could have done all sorts of sh1t that would make it go out within 60k miles.

the car wont go into gear so it wont move and there is also a burning smell that comes from the car.

and you think its the clutch???? will it go in gear with the car not running? If it will, then its probably the clutch. if it wont go into gear with the car not running, then the clutch itself would probably not have anything to do with the car not being able to go into gear. If the pressure plate is stuck, or the throw out bearing it gone, then maybe. Have you checked to make sure there is fluid in the transmission. The burning smell may be the transmission. There may be a bad bearing or something that is keeping the something from moving, and is causing friction (which would lead to heat and burning, and may make it difficult to go into gear).

before you assume it's the clutch and start buying parts, double check to make sure thats actually the problem.
