iridiums are too expensive to run in boosted cars. they foul out too quickly. iridiums - $8 a pop or more. **** that. make sure to get plugs with a heat range of 7. fyi. just go with the ones i said

back then when I was tryin out the NGK BKR7E they fouled out on me twice, and melted a couple of times, well some of my other freinds had the same problem, but every once anwhile with the BKR7E's, IMO the Champion C59CX racing plugs was the best plug for me and a lot of my friends, even though there US plugs, some were sprayin and some were boosted, but i had reccommended these plugs to them and they never had that problem again, i worked at O'reilly's and had a chance to discover a very good cold but not too cold plug...so if anyone wanted to try these plugs, i say give a chance its like $3.00 per plug, 80% of the time u prob. have to order them from the parts store but dont get the Autolite's they are replicas with not the same performance......:tongue1:
BRAND: Champion
PART NUMBER: C59CX

if you are having problems with the plugs melting, go to a colder heat range. dont blame the plug because it was in a car that needed a different heat range. thats like saying stock clutches suck because it wouldnt hold the power of a drag car. it works fine when used in an environment that its suppose to. for a stock d16 thats boosted, a heat range of 7 plug will work fine. i have not had any issues with them and they are cheap and work well. ngk plugs are known for being reliable and good performance. if your car is lower hp and still had issues, perhaps you just got a bad box.

unless you want problems, do not use anything else other than ngk plugs.
anytime there's a car on the dyno with ignition issues it's usually because there are bosch, autolight, or champion plugs or generic plug wires. dropping in a set of ngk plugs or replacing the wires with stock usually clears up the issue immediately.
many d-series come with 5's so bkr7e or zfr7f plugs would be recommended. i used zfr6f plugs for a while and switched to bkr7e and had fewer instances of knock during the summer months on my y7.

ngk bkr7e's. gap them around .028
IMO:
up to ~10psi, gap at 0.035
up to ~18psi, gap at 0.030
up to ~25psi, gap at 0.025
25psi and up, gap at 0.02
mine did not misfire at 0.04 at 9psi on a 15G turbo, had it like that for 1.5 years or so. Then it was doing good at 0.035 at 15psi. But last time I did 0.03 at 15psi cause with the time gap increases ..
I have stock D16Z6 turbo :)

go 30 because if you up the boost especially while you're tuning you won't have to pull the plugs and regap them. it's just a good starting point. you could gap them at 35, but if it starts blowing spark then you'll know what you'll have to do.

6097-bkr7e
4776-bkr7e-e
2387-bkr7es-11
3330-bcpr7es
1095-bcpr7es-11
1271-bcpr7ey-11
1283-bkr7e-11
the -11 plugs are 44 gap, so you will have to close them considerably. it can be done in a pinch, but the plugs that aren't -11 are closer gap and are better to gap down less than a lot. 6097 will probably be the easiest to find.
