Once you get your ECU bugs worked out we need to get some runs in. This is not a callout but I just want to see how your older JDM EJ20R runs against my new-age EJ207. We'll also be able to see if you're making the power you claim since I know what my motor makes and have posted dynos all over the internet. If you want a chase car to video tape I'll make some calls and we'll have that.

Same goes out to Maniac if he's still on here, I'm taking off work June 14th, lets meet up and run our cars.

I'll be the chase car for this stuff. If we could do it a wed, thurs, or fri that would rule.

Bobby, I'd also like to run you sometime. Just out of curiousity.

OK OK nice job, I have got to get in this! We all need to meet up some time. I'll have my 99 legacy out soon with my EJ20K swap also tranny swap. Should be fun and predicting about 300 to wheels, I will need to get it tuned soon after.

I like it! The video with the exhaust on it sounds very nice and understated. Makes me miss my gvr4 a little.

What turbo? 300whp out of a 2.0 subaru takes more than an IHI turbo. My offer above still stands . . .

So is this car running now? I'll buy you lunch if you can run my 2.0. I've wanted to see this car in person for months but all I can see are excuses for it being down with the exception of a couple of videos online.

Dood you can get them from JHOT on ebay for dirt cheap. Just be sure to look into the fact that you CANNOT TUNE THIS MOTOR. and the fact the TWIN TURBO SYSTEM BLOWS. I guess it might be fun to have power up until 4000 and then 500rpm of nothing while you're waiting for the second turbo to spool. The EJ20TT guys call this the power valley and if you shift and get stuck in it you may as well be in a D-series honda.

The internals are great on the EJ20R but the heads suck, the cams suck, the primary turbo blows out, and the secondary turbo doesnt flow enough for adequate topend. Not to mention the OP is the first person to successfully swap it into a LHD drive car. If you get to know Subaru guys, you'll learn that most anything that is reasonable has been done before, yet these shotty motors have been avoided for the latter decade, thats saying something.

Spend a little more and get a USDM EJ205. If you wait around for long enough you can get a shortblock for free and piece together a 2.5 block for less than $1500 including new pistons and rods.

EJ20R is the worst motor subaru has ever made IMO. I'd turbo a SOHC 2.5 before swapping in one of these, at least that would be fun until it blew up, this will last forever and leave you wanting more.

Well honestly if i do take on the project i won't be keeping the twin turbo system on the engine anyway, the novelty just isnt worth the effort. I had read and allegedly the blocks are pretty strong and seemed like a fairly inexpensive starting point that i could easily find with low mileage. I really haven't even made up my mind what I would like to do yet so im just researching and throwing around ideas.

It cost Will right under $1300 for the whole swap, engine, harness, everything from JHOT. I think his engine came with somewhere around 50k miles on it. I will tell you right now Chris wiring on this Engine is a BITCH., also if youre putting it in a subie, you will need the twin turbo crossmember. We tried using a regular one and notching, but tis didnt work so well.

EDIT: Although if its gonna be single tuebo you can probably get away with regular crossmembers. The engine is pretty much bolt in to most subies besides that.

Well im considering the swap into a 1st gen legacy (ive got a soft spot for these ugly cars lol) so ive still got alot of research to do, and im not even committed to doing the project yet, just weighing options.

Looks like ive actually found a car and will be picking it up very soon, already put a deposit on it until i can tow it home. Its a 1st gen legacy turbo sport.
