Dunno how many Z guros troll here, but I thought I'd ask for some advice anyways. Here my sitch.

I got in my car last night and tried to crank it (car had been sitting for a week). It cranks like it wants to starts but dies immediatly after the crank. This morning I checked for spark. I pulled the #1 ignition coil pack, and did the sparkplug on the plenum spark test.

No spark... I then removed the sparkplug and stuck a screwdriver in there instead and repeated the test. I got a very weak orange arc. Ive been told it should be a bright blue arc. So im assuming im having a spark issue.

Also when I crank, it smells of gas(from the exhaust), so I dont think its a fuel issue.

This is what ive got so far...so please help! http://www.300zxclub.com/images/smilies/nopity.gif

It smells like fuel because your just pushing fuel through and its not burning.. check your wiring. Have you cleaned and greased all of your CAS and PTU connections?

Yeah I figured unburned fuel was being funneled to the exhaust, Ill check out the CAS and PTU tomorow, thnx.

ok so...wait...

You turn your key to the ON position. Everything lights up, when u attempt to start, to all the lights dim and go out? Does ur car TURN OVER or just click?

~edit~had to reread ur post. kinda confusing. check ur cap/rotor if the Z's are equipped with them.

Re-read again....he mentioned coilpacks. coilpacks = no rotor:doh:

No prob man I know through experiences that both of those cause headaches with the Z.
