Atlanta/Macon/Savannah/Columbia Import Vs. Domestic Shootout

Whats up IA. Ive been a member of ia for a while but i haven't been very active. i live in augusta ga which is pretty much a central location between atlanta, macon, savannah and columbia, sc. split second performance along with some of the area shops has decided that we would like to host a import vs. domestic drag competition as well as a car show the first weekend in april. this is going to cost quite a bit of money and the purpose of this blog is to get some imput/feedback on the turnout we could expect. we think augusta is a prime location because it is smack in the middle of four other major cities. we want to hold this event with only street legal cars with the first day being an open race day and the second day for grudge matches. We will also have a dyno challenge and swap meet. Again the purpose of this thread is to see who would be interested in coming as well as to see what kind of turn out we could expect to see before we invest the money into the event. We would appreciate that if you were interested that you would reply to this thread in any way even if it as simple as typing interested so we could move forward with the next steps. We honestly believe this could be a huge event because of the central location. Thanks IA hope to see you all in April!

we were thinking about doin bracket races but we've changed our minds and have pretty much decided to just do open street races with arm dropping and the finish beam. and the strip is about 3/4 of a mile but we're only gonna do 1/4 mile drag for safety precautions. our main objective is to have fun but also to keep it safe

this sound like it might be alotta fun. now is this geared more towards car wit like 300+HP, cuz im not down for getting my ass handed me by a vett in my hatch. so my ? to u is will the cars some wat be evenly matched? i say somewat cuz u know someone is going to lie so they can whip on everyone and win.

There is a good 8 or 9 of Us who would Love to Race/Show and it seems like it well be Fun
I wound most likely just show My Car because I'm not much for Drag
My Love is for SCCA (AutoCross) but 90% of My Boys dig the $hit out of a good 1/4 mile.

the drag is goin to be open to anyone with a street legal car, but we do plan on the first day being an open race day and the second day for grudge matches where people can pick there races and we'll have some sort of sign up for that. If the turnout is good for this first event is good the airport will allow us to do it again and next time they'll give us both airstrips and we plan on having an autocross course as well as a drift course

Augusta is a central location to atlanta, columbia, savannah and macon.

Atlanta = @ 1hr 45 min.

Columbia = 1 hr

Macon = 1hr 30 min

savannah = 1 hr 45 min

Yea, but if u break down just outside of, whatever county that is, and ur Metro dont work and the guys u roll wit are asscheeks and just leave u there. Then... that 148miles sucks!!! I broke down twice like that out there.

Im sure you can find the same kind of racing local. no reason to drive 150 miles just too run alot v8 cars.

it only takes 1 hr and 45 min. we go to nopi every year and it takes us @ 1 hr 45 min. and thats only goin about 7-10 mph over. but you are right you could find some local races but im tired of racing the same cars every day. im tryin to bring different cars from different areas for a new experience. as far as breaking down your right it could happen but that could happen anywhere at anytime.

ok kool ill give u the keys to my hatch, it's got DOHC ZC, KYB GR-2's, skunk2 springs, neuspeed upper strut brace, home made rear sturt brace, honda fit wheels, neuspeed front sway bar, pacesetter header (wrapped). 6pnt rollcage, 1 seat, dashboard, NRG 4 pnt harness.

Do you have any hard info on this. what places are putting it on. Who is doing the dyno. Any companies sponsoring this event. any info about the show. Times, location. Possible hotel info.
