Yes yes, I kno I kno... I went to Honda-Tech and all that, but my situation may be different. So I'm asking the engine builders here if they can help.

Now 5 days ago. Before I got my new exhaust Vuong installed a new cam seal/timing belt and so on, onto my D16A6A motor for my 91 CRX. At first everything was fine. Oil levels were no longer dropping, nothing was smoking, nothing was knocking no oil on the plugs and all that.

4 days ago I got my new exhaust installed, new catback and all that. The next morning I noticed that when I warmed the car up, it would leave tiny bits of oil behind. And at WOT it would just spray oil.

3 days ago, my cat was destroyed by the oil built up (I suppose)

2days till today my car smokes horribly, I mean... CLOUDS of smoke, while at idle, under lite accleration and WOT, but not while cruising.

I'm asking if... since we did not change the seals that sit below the cam on this motor, if they could be the reason for the smoke. Now three plugs are covered with oil and the car just smokes and smokes and smokes...:(

Would a leak down test prove if the pistons have lost compression and also tell me if the rings are bad? Any other info would be greatly appreciated otherwise someone needs to buy this from me at a discounted price.

Leakdown will mainly tell you if you have bent valves. youll want to do a COMPRESSION TEST.

Leakdown will only tell you if the top ring is good, not the oil control rings or the 2nd ring.

The only seals below the cam are the oil pump/front main seal and rear main seal. It COULD be possiuble that the rear main seal is so bad its dripping on the exhaust causing the smoke, but at that point it should leave a puddle pretty big under the car when not running.

Sounds to me like you have just a coincidence.

No there is no external leaks. And... the oil comes from my exhaust pipe. And only while its running. Sometimes it smokes heavly from a dead stop. Other times, there is no smoke whatsoever. It doesnt burn it while driving at highway speed unless at WOT. I guess it may be the rings... so I'll have Vuong check that out when I go to replace those seals that have no names.

Would your company be able to perform a compression test for me if I bring it up today?

we are booked till next week , Vuong can do the compression test though no problem.

Sounds like you have bad rings
