valve seals or rings. more likely, rings. tear it apart and do a full rebuild.

if there are no external leaks, I agree with the 2 above me. Piston rings.

Pretty sure the rings are shot. A leak down will prove it.

Damn, anyone want it then? I dont have the funds to cover it, since I JUST got into college. I'll trade for a basic car. Or sell for a decent price for someone else to rebuild.

I kno, just after I thought I finished everything. I did all this for college and now I'm broke and outta time. If I cant get it fixed by Friday night, then... I'll just hopefully make it to Ohio and trade it in or sell it for cheap and just take out a loan and buy something.

I really had high hopes for my EF :(

Its not a coolant leak though. I check my coolant everyday to make sure. There is not oil in the coolant either.

I'm asking if... since we did not change the seals that sit below the cam on this motor, if they could be the reason for the smoke. Now three plugs are covered with oil and the car just smokes and smokes and smokes...:( No

Would a leak down test prove if the pistons have lost compression and also tell me if the rings are bad? Any other info would be greatly appreciated otherwise someone needs to buy this from me at a discounted price.A leak down, no. That will just tell you the percentage of leakage in the testing cylinder. Now, if you put compressed air in the cylinder with the valves closed, you can then determine if the leak is on the head side, or the piston side.
