I don't know if I'm posting this in the right thread? :screwy:
so um. yea.
this is what I've been up to all break.
Background: my old Garrett took a dump, blew a heat seal and was blowing smoke. Decided to go with a quicker spooling turbo, same .63 A/R but it's a GodSpeed, decided to try them out, especially since this new turbo is VBand compatible rather than the traditional 4bolt to the dp. Old turbo peaked at about 3.5k and this one should do the job a spill before 3, so its gonna be fun. plus I'm still on that Highschool budget :gay:

here's the last time he came out of the cave for one last drive with the old turbo

anyways, here's the old setup:
http://i1.tinypic.com/8albkgy.jpg

also replaced this old stock downpipe (yes I know )

what a terrible site this was. :(

This was at 5:30am on his way to the muffler shop to get the new 3" DP welded and prepped with a V band ring.

and here's how the new dp sits underneath :

And finally, here is the new turbo setup:

Thanks for checking it out. Unfortunately, the car still sits in my garage. if you look close in the last picture at where the EGR Valve is supposed to screw into the bung on the Elbow pipe, it sits at an angle, and when I unbolt and unclamp the elbow in a position to screw in the EGR Valve, the resulting position throws the V band ring off center with the exhaust housing of the turbo. aka, I have to bend some things in the next week to get this sucka runnin :ninja:
Anyways, I'm excited. hope yal had a good Christmas break.

it 380 and they have stages.

btw thats a sagging downpipe you got

Krappy

you should eliminate the EGR system

jimmycricket
01-08-2008, 07:52 AM
^^ what would that do from an emissions standpoint? I want to eliminate it but i was told by a lot of people that it was necessary to keep. plus it'd be a pain in the ass to get the intake mani off and yadayadayada.
And ya, the JGS comes in stages

It doesn't actually sag like in the picture when it's bolted up top to the 3 bolt from the elbow pipe. That picture was with it unbolted so of course it's gonna look like a saggy grandma

welll true... i'm guessing your OBD2 from the look of your intake mani but i could be wrong... cant see it clearly... lol move or get your car registered in a county with no emissions

wasup man, this is the guy from that defensive driving class...get that thing tuned with the old turbo? dyno #'s? I'm looking into doing something like that or a ca18det. either way, looking damn good

oh man. Thanks for the ride, it hauls. Can't wait until you play with the boost pressure a little.

jimmycricket
01-10-2008, 12:17 PM
thanks bigs. and whats up Travis* I think your name was? I have a Jim Wolf ECU thats tuned from the MAFS and 370 injectors so no need for a tune here. Right now the actuator is at 5.5psi and it pulls a lot sooner than my old turbo, around 2.8k but should be spooling around 2.5 after I rewire the Profec and turn the boost up to 7.5low 9high. Definately missed that feeling though. Thanks for all the compliments guys. So far the Godspeed Turbo has been great, no word on long term break in yet since I didn't really break it in, it just went lol. So I'll post up how its doing after about 600miles from now.
ps. a KA-T with 3" straights sounds like nothing i've ever heard before :O

you def still wanna get a tune. 370 inj dont push much power

jimmycricket
01-11-2008, 10:46 PM
they push plenty for what I use it for. but why the need for a tune? I mean I will get it dyno'd to check the A/R and all

caus its not spefic(sp) to your car.and the ecu is more of a guess to what timing and fuel requirements your car wants.

I really appreciate that, it's very hard without a big budget because I'm not 18. Thanks though
