you may want to check into to why your radiator fans aren't running. Luckily its very cold out so that can help you some with short distance traveling. Maybe a fuse blew, connector came loose/broken. Get those fans working and then see if you have overheating issues still.

Also check the coolant/oil. If either one looks like chocolate milk, your HG is done for.

look under you oil cap if it is milky then it is a blown head gasket.

oh. dang. looks like im in the same boat =[

my car was going from all the way hot to mid like crazy. but i was thinking- theres no way it can go from hot to mid in like 5 seconds. well the other day me and my boyfriend were sitting in traffic and one of the hoses busted. it was an easy fix, luckily it was on the end, and i cut the hose, moved it up and reclamped it jus to get me home. i refilled the coolant and it was fine for about 3 days. now its starting to overheat again. but when im in high rpms, it goes back to normal. .. still sound like a head gasket?

check your fan switch, maybe thats why your cooling fan is not kicking on. That could cause you to overheat too. But as stated above, check your coolant and see if that **** is milky, if it is then its a definite blown hg.

You blowing coolant back into the reservoir? It could also be a leaky heater core or you're just leaking coolant somewhere else. I'd get the fans working then look for any leaks first before doing a headgasket.

ok all of you... my oil looks normal, the reason i know its my head gasket is that its blowing pressure into the radiator. like a 5 minute ride will create a **** load of pressure, so i was having to ride with a radiator cap missing the "toggle top" or w/e the hell it is, which allowed it to release pressure at all times... tom from acura and honda specialist helped me out with figuring that out, now anybody have any suggestions now? lol

if you know for sure its the headgasket then either time to rebuild that motor or drop in a new one.

Won't the bottom of the oil cap be white if he has a blown headgasket?

I would drain all the coolant out and add some few afterwards. Have the heater on, so it can circulate better. I had that same problem with my wrx and doing that help'd out.

i'm convinced its spmething to do with the fan, considering even when the car was at the redline on the "heat-o-meter" the cooling fan was still not on. im just not sure what it could be.

it also could have been a cracked cam creating alot of heat in the head causing the coolant to turn into steam inturn causing the pressure...:ninja: i know it sucks trying to figure that much crap out...:ninja: i had a thread about a year ago and i did everything then i took the cam out and checked it and instead or hearing a ring it was a thud noise. :gay:

if your fans arent working your car will overheat. I think it would have been best to fix the fan issue then drive your car and see if it still overheats. You might drop in the new motor and still run into the same problems.

i drove the car to see if it would still overheat after installing the thermostat, so i could see if that fixed the problem. it wasnt until i got back froim this ride that i noticed the cooling fans weren't working. i replaced the motor because it was a d15b and to me it wasnt worth tearing the head off to replace a head gasket when its like a 300 dollar engine. so i replaced it either way its gettin taken care of

yea well mines got a lot of pressure in the lines. and ive busted two hoses so far. my uncle is a mechanic and he bled the air out. he said it would fix it. and it did. for about 20 minutes. now back to stiff hoses again. how much does a headgasket run? for labor?
