Ok since ther aren't many 3G's on this forum I decided that i'm gonna document how I mod my car.

First off let me say that this car is not fast. Nor will it be but, as it's already decently fun to drive I thought I would make it a little better as I don't see driving this car but for another 1-2 years as I will be buyin my dream project car by then :ninja: . But I will be keeping it as my when the project's in the shop/when **** breaks car.

The goal is to have something that handles halfway decently as right now in stock form it handles like a damn lincoln and somewhere between 215-225 whp. I plan to acheive this through:
Intake
Exhaust
Header
Diamante V6 Intake Manifold
Diamante V6 Throttle Body
S-AFC V.1(My Christmas Present from Tank :goodjob: )
Plugs
Wires

As I have been told repeatedly 225whp is probably more than likely a stretch but I don't see a problem with getting 215whp from this car. Will it be fast after this? No. But will it be more fun to drive? In combination with some coilovers absolutely.

I came to get this car after my mom kicked me out and took my tC.
An old shot of it
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i311/midnightracer05/scion%20stuff/HPIM0472.jpg

The car had been sitting in a garage and accumulated a total of like 50mi/wk over the course of 2 years as my Dad only used it to get back and forth from the airport in VA Beach where he works. I went like 2 months without a car because the car needed a lot of work. But finally it was done and I got to fly up to VA Beach and pick it up. I could have cared less what it was but I feel like I lucked out.
Some Pics I took when I got it home.

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i311/midnightracer05/eclipse/0815071123.jpg

I have basically sat on this car because of lack of funds for the last 5 months. Finally though I got enough money to finally get some stuff for this damn car.

back like 2 or three weeks ago I got in touch with Bucky about doing some paint work for me on my wheels. I can not thank him enough for the quality job he did. Here is how my stock wheels came out after Bucky worked his magic.
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i311/midnightracer05/eclipse/DSCF4328.jpg

While I was waiting on him and the car was on jack stands went I decided to go ahead and paint the calipers so that there would be a little more color to offset the black.

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i311/midnightracer05/eclipse/1212071443.jpg
I met up with him later that night after he finished and picked them up. The next day I took them to Big 10 Tire in Peachtree city and had them rebalence them and mount the weights on the inside of the wheel.
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i311/midnightracer05/eclipse/1212071654.jpg
Then I finally was able to throw them on the car.

I couldn't be happier with the way they look on the car.

Last week before I left for Boston had a slight run in with the car and smashed the front bumper up.
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i311/midnightracer05/eclipse/1219071729.jpg
No big deal as I wanted to pull the front liscense plate but there was damadge behind it that it was covering up So I had decided against it till now. I have a new front bumper on the way that Bucky will be painting along with the side view mirrors.

Last week I ordered my Intake and Greddy SP2 Exhaust thinking they would be here when I got back this weekend but unfortunately they won't be here till Thursday and friday of this week coming up. So yesterday when I got back I took some of the money that I got from Christmas and my Birthday and took my car and got my windows tinted. Thanks to C&B Window Tinting in Newnan for the quick work they made of the car. 35% on the sides and 20% on the rear window.

I thought about getting these but I didn't like the idea of spending like 1k on these when I have brand new tires on the car and then having to spend money on getting the lips repainted to get rid of the writting and i like gloss better

Id like gunmetal or bronze and your car needs to be dropped.

Id like gunmetal or bronze and your car needs to be dropped.
That probably won't be till this summer I really want the Tein coilovers but I gotta save up $900 bucks first and then get a camber kit. I might cave and just get a good shock and spring combo. I would have dropped this thing a long time ago but unlike my tC the shocks on this car are so soft if i just threw in springs the shocks would blow in like 2 weeks

Yea well this has way more torque and its a 5spd which i missed in the tC as it was an auto

Sucks that your mom took your TC though. See if you or your dad have any legal benefits from your jobs to get a lawyer and get the TC back.
Dad's self employed and has a lawyer on retainer as do I but I'm not gonna waste the time or money. Best I could hope for is to get the money i put in payments back into it and thats not gonna happen as my mom doesnt work she gets child support and alimony from my dad and thats what she lives in so **** it I'll spend that money on this.

Update:My front bumper came in today :goodjob: . And since I pulled my mud flaps off I had to go and find the trim pieces that go in their place. After looking around the house I gave up and went to the junkyard and lucked out and found these on an '03 and sure enough they fit even though the fenders are different :goodjob: Not bad for $20. Also just checked and my Exhaust arrived in Atlanta today. :goodjob: Looks like i will have a busy weekend.

looks cold in that garage, cuz i dont see no HEATER!

AlanŽ
01-03-2008, 09:22 PM
It's actually not that cold it was 20 degrees outside last night and it was like 50-60 in the garage so it wasn't to bad. the real problem was that between it being so cold and the car being 7 years old 2 of the 5 screws snapped their heads. the rest i did very slowly with lots of wd-40. rust FTMFL.

I'm still pissed about my intake being the wrong one.

but they are online all over best bet is to find a site that has free shipping, because they are all about the same price.. 45-50$. google "intake air bypass valve"

Have anyone put the 3000gt twin cam n/a or twin turbo into a 3rd gen

AlanŽ
01-05-2008, 12:23 AM
i think they have on the na but the TT motors no way to expensive.

so after spending the entire afternoon and night we were only able to get the axleback portion of the exhaust off. the midpipe bolts are so rusted it's not even funny. we have tried everything. we just took a torch to them and then sprayed them down with penetrating oil and it still didn't break loose. we sprayed them down again and are going to let it set overnight. if it doesn't work I will be driving the car with only the mid pipe up to he dealership to let them have at it.if anyone has any more ideas please chime in.

JITB
01-05-2008, 03:31 AM
keep trying!.. or why not just take the exhaust apart wherever u can.. and just keep the midpipe together.. it will just be in bigger sections.. but its not going back on so it wont matter.

AlanŽ
01-05-2008, 10:14 PM
Ok so in the end I ended up taking the car to a buddy of mine out near barnesville JUST to break the bolts loose. So for about 2 hours today I was the world's biggest ricer riding around with no axleback. Also picked up all my pieces from Bucky this afternoon and was able to put those back on but lost a turn signal in the process. Here's some pics of the finished product. Still got a little bit of work to do but i'm done for one day.

did I? I went to union city to hit the mitsu dealership but they were closed so I had to turn around and come back and then go all the way down 74-85-16-41-19 and went to my buddies house who has a lift and air tools. took him 5 minutes to break them loose. i have to order shocks in conjunction with the springs because the shocks on here are so soft the springs would blow them out. so i gotta get some kyb shocks first hopefully a couple weeks. And yes bucky did an amazing job on the bumper and mirrors :goodjob: . i gotta get another vent though cause one of them fell off today  .

Thread Revival.

So this thing hasn't had anything done to it since the last post, which was 2 years ago with the exception of me fucking up my front bumper while looking at some chicks ass LOL, long story. Anyhow my Dad has been driving it back and forth to the airport for the last couple of months and he made a bunch of complaints about the car so we are remedying them as we go. Finally have fixed all the mechanical issues on the car(2 engine mounts, trans mount, idle speed motor, o2 sensor, goes on and on) and are finally getting back to the fun stuff. Over the last couple of weeks we got ordered:

Rota D2's in black 17x7.5 +35
Pioneer AVIC-UB310 Nav, iPod, Bluetooth already built in
XM Tuner
HD Tuner
Alpine Type R 6.5" Component Door Speakers
Infinity 3.5" Center Channel
Sony 700 Watt amp
Projector Head lights
6K HIDs
4K HIDs for the fogs (Big ups to Nitro on both sets:goodjob:)
New dash cover since mines all cracked to shit
and just a few other doo dads here and there that I won't bore you with cause they are that minor.

Got the Projectors put in today just gotta put the HID's in and shes golden on this.

Here's a couple of shots to show just how bad the old ones were after 10 years.

Thanks again Chrysler for making yet another shitty component:2up:. Driving at night in this car with the stock set up sucked you could only see maybe 30 feet in front of you

Haha yea. When I got my tC back I kinda just.....lost interest and it sat in the garage and never got driven. Now that my Dad's actually driving it it's getting some much needed attention.

The wheels are back ordered for another week so hopefully in two weeks I'll have em in and get em mounted right after.

UPDATE:

HD Tuner came in today although I'm slightly worried, as when I turned it over and looked at compatible head units mine wasn't on there BUT it said compatible with head units with IP BUS which mine has so we'll see...here's hoping

Next week will be pretty busy. Monday car goes in to have all the audio bits installed. Tuesday I pick it up then it heads back to the shop to have a few small compnents replaced I felt needed to be addressed. Then Wednesday it goes in to have the front bumper replaced and a few nicks and scratches addressed as well as some PDR done. Wheels are supposed to come off backorder as well on Monday so I'm hoping either by the end of the week or beginning of the following I can get them mounted balenced and aligned and my work will finally be done.

After that Mike(Mach'N U) who as well all know does spectacular work will be working his magic on my car as well.

Needless to say it's been a long arduous road for this car but I'm finally approaching the finish line. And it has been so worth the wait.

Back when I was a young kid (I'm still a kid ha), I always used to want one of these. Even though I have my own car now, I still love seeing these pop up from time to time. If only it was a RWD car. Or at least AWD. Even still though gl and I look forward to updates. Nice car

Thanks man. Yea this car definitely needs some more balls at the very least. Once all this is done I'm thinking the only other things I'm gonna do is headers, re-tune, and MAYBE a small drop.

Just a quick update. Dropped off the car to have the stereo installed today and ordered the last of the parts I need to finish including the new nose and a few other tid bits here and there. Also talked to the people i ordered my wheels from and they were supposed to ship out either today or tomorrow.

Anyways heres a quick shot I got today as they were running all the wiring for the new setup
