I was wondering how many people had a HDTV. I'm still on standard and desperately wanting to upgrade for a PS3. I was thinking about getting a 20 something inch Vizio 720p for my room since my room's pretty small. Is there a big difference between 720p and 1080p in gaming or watching tv/movies? There are a couple nice, cheap 720 Vizio's at Wal-Mart that look tempting as hell and 1080s are a little out of my price range.

u wont find 1080p's under 32" and even so u really wont need a 1080p that small.

vizio's are ok. for a 20" tho ur not left with much in terms of choice.

sharp, vizio, lg, samsung.

I have a 42" 1080P, a 32" 1080i, and another small LCD. The difference in the picture is like night and day. I would NEVER go back to a regular TV again.

The differences between 720p and 1080p will not become obvious till you start getting into large screens. For example if you are looking at a 40" screen from 15 feet back you would not be able to tell 720p from 1080p. However if you stood 3 feet away from a 60" the difference would be very noticable.

I bought a 32' lg from brandsmart for myself for christmas for 587 including tax and it looks great with ps3. It was cheaper than any vizio and looks way better imo.

im going to purchase a 720p 42 plasma in the spring so i can take advantage of my hd dvd player and HD cable or sat and gaming systems and crap and move my 42" 480p plasma into the bed room. 720p plasmas are really coming down in price and they are damn nice. Hope to snag a new one for 799-899 by then.

Seriously, they are getting freaking cheap these days. And is Brandsmart a reliable place to buy electronics from? I live pretty close to the one next to 285 in Doraville, but heard bad stuff about the store

For gaming I'd recommend the LCD tv over a plasma, plasmas start to dim if you have it on a lot, I've never had any problems like that since I switched to LCD's though. Just my 2 cents though.
