We don't really have an electronic section, so I'm dropping it off in here for all the electronic gurus to help me. Reps to all that can help.
I just got an Ipod touch. I'm trying to put all the music that's on my old 20G Ipod onto it. I'm failing miserably. I've tried the "help" section, it's not helping.
I have been able to upload what's in the "library", which is some old stuff I had from Itunes. I normally download from places like Limewire directly onto the Ipod itself, of course using Itunes. I think where I made a mistake was that I didn't download from Lime onto the "library". I just drag and dropped directly into the individual Ipod's main or specific playlist.
So what I really need is either A: how to send everything from old Ipod into the Itunes "library" because from there I can easily drag into the new Itouch, or B: how to send everything directly to the Itouch which I have the ability to connect both at the same time to the same computer.
Reps to whomever can help. :goodjob:

i dont know if this would work but have you tried opening 2 windows and then click and dragging the items from one to the other?

Treat the old iPod like a portable hard drive; just go into the my computer window and click the drive and drag everything off the iPod onto your desktop (should be in one folder). then go into iTunes and add that folder's contents to the library. Then download it onto the new iPod.
Alternately, when you plug in the iPod into iTunes, you should be able to see everything on the iPod within iTunes. In that case, just drag and drop it into the library. But get it into the iTunes library whatever you do.
Unless you're on a Mac in which case i have no idea what to do.

Do you use iTunes to put music on your old iPod? If so just pluf in the iTouch and sync. Or you can use this http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ to pull all your music out of your old ipod and it will put it into a folder for you on your hard drive, then add it to itunes and sync the i touch

Thanks folks. It still is not working for me.
I tried looking at it like an external hardrive, but I don't see any music files at all to be able to make a folder on my desktop. So that didn't work. I tried going to that website Chris suggested, but when I try to download the program, it won't let me for some reason. It just sits there. I was trying to do the torrent file thing, but I have no clue how that works.
Let me ask yall something: Is there a way to replace whatever I have in the "library" now with what's on my old Ipod? I know there is a way to do it backwards.....library to Ipod by syncing, but is there a way to do it Ipod to library and the library now holds what's on the Ipod now?
I know that Apple had to have a way to do this somehow.
