I'm looking at a camaro with an LT1 in it, and I'm not too familiar with them. I was just wondering if any of you guys knew anything about 'em, weak points, etc. It's already got some basic bolt ons...SLP Loudmouth exhaust, K&N intake, LT4 'Hot Cam', larger TB. I think this will do me for now if I end up getting it, maybe just add a 100 shot for special occasions. Anyway, back to the point. Weak points? How well does the motor like nitrous, things to look for, etc.

Weak points... optispark, intake manifold. Optis tend to take a **** a lot, and the intake sucks... but there's not much cheap to replace it until you get into a converted to EFI single plane.

haha thats funny....lsx all day. lt1 is outdated technology and just dont make the power lsx's do. and since when does it matter how it sounds, i think how it runs is more important.

Yea I heard alot about the Optisparks going out and that a msd optispark is the best bang for the buck instead of replacing with a oem one. mines takes a 100shot pretty well...twin fogger nozzle with TB plate...wet kit...make sure you get a wet kit

Although my stock clutch is gone now, just about. I have a comp clutch 6 puck sprung kit I need someone to put in for me, I dont feel like dropping the front suspension without a lift by myself :( i need to find someone to install it for me

I've got a ram air intake as well as a hypertech programmer ....i hated the 120mph speed cut... the programmer is a noticeable difference

Also the stock tires suck, i moved upto a 275/45/19 runflat tire, i never had traction 1st,2nd and 3rd on stock 16s

Turbo kit :) next project

Only problem is they are 10+ years old now and finding one that has had regular maintenance performed and been well taken care of is difficult. I loved the two LT-1 T/As I had. Can't say anything bad about them.

Don't buy it. Lt1's are slow and weak. LS1's were created by God, so they're much better.

Ha, all you LT1 haters can get bent. I love my head/cam/intake/headers LT1 6 speed. I belive the worlds fastest LT1 is within a couple of tenths of the worlds fastest LS1.

Way to resurrect an old thread for your first post.
